I've been using it on the regular vinyl dash and assorted plastic bits in my commuter with no problems. Gives a nice shine without gunking it up or making it slippery.
griots polish
has anyone used the griots polish?
i am and have been for years been using best of show on my cars but have been using a meguires polish.
i have thought of switchign to all griots but so far this works. and opinions?

Hello, I am anxiously awaiting the arival of our new MINI (should be at the dealer by 10/13)...I have a quick detailing question...
I'm getting a handfull of Griotts products to protect the MINI from Chicago Winter! (fortunatly it gets parked in a garage so it shouldn't see too much winter)...Anyway, I'm wondering two things...
First, what is the best product for cleaning the black trim around the wheel well? Is just using their car wash good enough?
Second, I always mix this up...Is it synthetic or carnauba wax that can be applied to plastic without causing the white marks?
Thanks in advance for help!

Hope this helps.
I know there are other things like clay bar, wash wheels, etc...Just overall, wash, wax, seal?

You have the order a bit off. The carnuba wax I use is the Best of Show. Put that OVER the sealent. So wash, clay, seal THEN Best of Show. Yesterday I just did the paint sealent, no Best of Show, and it shines
OK, thanks for clearing that up! And on the black parts around the wheel well I'll clean, paint prep detail them, then put the sealant on NO wax on the plastic wheel wells right?
Also, I know Heater from Detailing Solutions has a one step dressing for the arches that appears to work well. May want to give that a try.
whats the point of best of show over sealent? i thought the sealent took the place of best of show if you wanted a once in a while type wax.
Thanks, I'll look into something extra then! I am thinking of using "Best of Show" wax becuase it gets such great reviews...So, wash, best of show, then paint sealent in that order?

Living the Seattle area is a plus when it comes to Griot's. They located in Tacoma and have hosted the PSMINI group on three different detailing sessions ouver the past year. They always have a free raffle and give away complete detailing kits. They just had their annual garage sale and everything was on sale and they also got rid of retruns from customers. I picked up a power brake bleeder for $20.00.
I purchased all the waxes and two buffers from them and they taught me how to use them and made sure I was comfortable buffing out my MINI, also they went over the best process for keeping the CABRIO clean and protected.

Thats correct. The shine is more natural from a wax.
well as far as my Chicago winter this year, im going to run Prima Epic
on both my Civic and Legacy.
and top them off with Griot's SprayOn wax after each wash. that's probably
all the protection my cars will ever need to make it through this winter.
i think im going to use this stuff all year long on my commuters and possibly
my G35C too.

When the Griot's team came to Des Moines for a demo day a couple weeks ago, I asked about the wax content of Speedshine. It is only 1% wax at the most.
BOSW is carnauba (sp?) wax, and PS doesn't contain wax at all (and why am I having a brain lock as to the name of what it is in PS? Sorry, I can't come up with the term.).
They were also saying you can layer on BOSW in numerous layers. Up to 7 layers (without removing the wax between coats) can be applied and really get a great shine with greater protection.
I've started using PS on our daily driver '02 MC and I'm very happy with the results. It gives a very nice shine with good depth. I've actually done it in 3 coats on the hood and it looks great.
I think I am the only one who uses their carnauba paste wax!
YES, I did finally get my mini
It looks awesome. I have to take photo's tomorrow.
The carnauba paste was very unpaste like. It covered well and rubbed off without much fuss. I did the car in one shot. I like doing that vs sections. It's more fun to get the whole car with the wax and then buffing it all off I think. I also do everything by hand, no machines for me. One day, if the paints needs it, I will orbital pc it and go the Octaneguy way.
I got some wax below the door on the rubber. That did not come off that easy. I used griot's rubber cleaner, but I think I had to leave it on longer. That carnauba doesnt like comming off of much. It did work but I had to do it twice and rub quite a bit. I dont' tape off things. That's just not my style.

I'd find a patch that I missed, and I'd almost have to scrub at it to get it to come off. I ended up misting it with Speedshine, and it came up right away after that.
I really don't forsee using the BoS again anytime soon. I've still got almost-full bottles of Zaino and Menzerna, and I think they shine as well or better than BoS, and they're a *lot* easier to remove.
