Ok ok... it's no Zaino or Zymol or whatever but my father was a Nu Finish NUT. And this was a man who took care of his vehicles--when I first started driving I didn't have to return the car with fuel in the tank but I did have to help with the detailing. Anyway I've never personally used the stuff but I'm thinking: New Car, New Wash products. I was just wondering what the common Nu Finish concensus was...? I want to take care of my baby, but my life is going to be very, very hard if my boyfriend/family suspect that I'm actually special-ordering car care products...

Willing to do it, but I'll have to be convinced first,
~Kelley

Came out real high in a Consumer Report wax test a few eons ago. I personally have found that it is difficult to remove from dark colors (streaks) and dries white showing any small paint imperfections. Not recommended.

A little more scooter consensus for ya. Zaino is not just a special order, it's a friggin' adventure. That guy just does NOT like people buying his products. Zymol, on the other hand is everywhere and is cheap. They have a nice kit at Costco for $12 or so. Sorry, I can't tell you anything about Nu-Finish.

I chose Zaino and although it is very difficult to buy, it is quite easy to apply. It does leave marks on the black plastic skirts and fenders but they are so minimal that I don't even bother trying to apply carefully. It's my understanding that Zaino is the least plastic-marking protectant of the bunch and I am very happy with it in that respect. Also, I believe that Zaino is the only one with no wax products -- this was a great feature to me as I live very close to the sun. You remember what happened to that guy with the wax and the feathers and stuff...

Zaino provides a wetter, deeper shine in my opinion. The fact that Zaino lasts longer means less applications over time. You'll actually be saving money with Zaino!. How's that for justification....

Cool---thanks guys. In the end I've dismissed Nu Finish (Sorry Dad) and was vasilating between Zaino and Zymol. Was aiming for the Zymol once I found out it was sold locally, however, I cannot find their carbon wax--just the HD clean. So... Zaino it is. Is it really that difficult to procure? I wasn't looking for an adventure at the moment, just a clean, happy, healthy car. But hey, I'll roll with it, I suppose.

Thanks again for the help!

Try ordering some Zaino if you live in NJ!!! There are no online orders to NJ. There is one store about an hour away that stocks the products and one guy who does phone orders from Pa. I guess the Zaino brothers don't want to deal with state tax.

My friends think I'm nuts that I'm gonna drive an hour to buy some car wash. They just don't understand me anymore

EDIT>> Omtoast is a great username. Good luck gettin' Ollie all shined up!!

Thanks! I can't wait for his first real detailing! Very excited--possibly even more excited that I was right before I gave my "vintage" Omni a good buffing.

PS--I completely understand the drive; what better way to procure care products for your baby than by spending some good quality time together!

My friends and family are not exactly car nuts, so most of my product purchases for the MINI have not been widely advertised...

"Hi, Sal... about my order... yeah, I'm going to need that shipped in an unmarked, used-to-be-reserved-for-**** box, to a post office box in Punxatawney... yeah... that'd be great... thanks"
