ok, yah, i though you were kidding. beading visual check only
works for well vs not so well waxed surfaces...not very accurate.

Mine is an alcoholed area vs as-is squeak test. the side mirror, roof,
bonnet, trunk. my finger would get caught and not smoothly slip.

all front/top surfaces there was nothing left. the side had a little
wax left but not enough to sheet the water off too well... so, overall
i would classify as 'gone.'

yah, you can only use that sig after you buy a gallon of Hydro.

btw, i ordered Clarity as well and another glass mf and some bug spray.

nothing like getting bugs off the car on a hot summer day.

im going to be washing these commuter cars in 15min each and
they will look fantastic. with total setup and clean up,
moving the car around time, i think i can get it down within the
hour. that is my goal. and it will look better than most people's
cars that were 'detailed.' blahaahhaa!!! (ok, not sure
why that laugh was so loud).

Ken - I bought a gallon of Hydro as well. I noticed the little sticker on the gallon that warns: "Do not use repeatedly without first applying Epic". Didn't you see that? It goes on to say that should you do this your paint will likely drop off as will your hair and you will rapidly age to make up for all the time that is owed to Prima. Your choice though - use as you choose!

I think I will order a gallon of Hydro soon, and maybe a gallon of Mystique. I need a waffle weave bad... and maybe MonsterFluffy MAX while I'm at it. Heck, maybe I will get some more Epic, and maybe a new set of pads. O and some 303 Protectant, and some of OG's new SCG TrueTrim ( ).

I need to be a sponsored detailer

O add Grit Guards to that list...

And a hose nozzel (sp?). My thumb is getting tired from spraying the water. (no wait, thumbs down, it hurts.)

Pshh. I learned this in math today.

SCG TrueTrim > Tonkatsu Sauce.

Its a mathematical inequality.

I've spoken with our dear OC elder detailing guru, Mr. OctaneGuy, and he is extremely busy right now. I'm sure I can speak for him in saying that he truly misses you all and hopes to be able to pause for a moment and return to NAM-land soon.

He's currently working on 1,274 projects at one time (last time I tried to count anyway).

(by the way, when I say "elder" I don't mean his age... I'm referring to his elder-like wisdom )

Had to process some rush orders for some NAM members----I'm cutting vinyl for banners and signs for our Grand Opening tomorrow, I got my shipment from Heather today--THANK YOU!!! I haven't seen it yet, but the wife says the boxes arrived safely, I got my Meguiar's products ready----I still have many unprocessed orders..I was going to post the poll on a private URL, but had some issues, so I'm going to post it over at my forum--I was originally limited to only 10 responses to the poll--was tempted to cut 5 names out!!! LOL, but nope, found in the admin panel that I could change the poll to anything I wanted--so I made it 15---but no time to post it yet---got more signs to weed and put up---ugh still gotta wash my car--can't have a grand opening for a detail shop with a dusty black MINI!!! Gotta be back here at the shop bright and early--still gotta pack and load MINI--wait I'm still at the shop---I have to go home before I can pack.....ok hmm just though of one more project to do....please update my list Heather...1,275!!! Ok, signing off--be back later.. Whewww..I think I am feeling kinda old. Thanks Heather!

Congrats on opening the shop, good luck with keeping it open for years to come .

How much Epic do you guys put on your pad and how much of an area does it cover?

First, you should use about an ounce of Epic for the entire application on your MINI. (btw, if you can't imagine a liquid ounce, just think 1 shot glass or 2 Tablespoons)

You do have to use a little bit more Epic on the initial "pour" onto the pad than the subsequent pours.

So, after shaking the Epic like crazy first of course,
squeeze about 2 "strings of thin spaghetti" worth of Epic around the outer edge of your pad (say, about a half-inch from the edge of the pad). This initial amount should do the entire hood, give or take.

Then, panel by panel, add just a little bit more... more like a single, well-spaced droplet string at a time.

Hope that helps! If you're still unsure, just give us a call when you're about to get started. If you're going to get started before our company phone lines are on, just PM me and I'll give you my cell phone number to use instead.

BTW, the spaghetti analogy is Nick's. Odd, but it works!

Thanks Heather, I'll give it a whirl, if I use to much, I'll call .

(2 Thin Spaghettis are just about the same size as a small linguine if you want you can use linguine over 2 thin spaghettis )

Any informed opinions on Epic vs. Zaino as far as protecting against bird droppings?

Concerned mainly with sea gulls and the occasional killer pelican...
