QD vs. NXT?

Although, I'd save my money and get Prima Slick. LOL (yes, I know... I'm biased)
Speedshine's not too shabby either though!-Heather

But Prima Slick is polyer based, right? can't really compare it with
SpeedShine which is natural wax based. not the same category.

now i noticed you have a sealant called Epic. how would you compare
this with Griot's paint sealant? im sure you tried a back to back to see
where your product stands vs other manufacturer's product. wat are
Epic's strong points and weaknesses from application, durability, and
over all shine and slickness?
do you apply Prima Slick over Epic after each wash to enhance the
gloss and slickness? or do you have another product that reinforces
Epic after a wash?
Yes, you are absolutely right about Prima Slick- it is a polymer-based QD and contains no carnauba. Slick has a nice wetness and, as the name implies, impressive slickness! I'd say, which one ya like best would depend on what you like in your QD.
We do test against dozens of other waxes/synthetics, including the Paint Sealant. Prima Epic has already become our best selling wax since its debut a couple of months ago (in our store, competing with P21S Carnauba, Klasse AIO, etc). It has some great attributes, and I'll address each area you asked about:
Application: Easy on, easy off. I know, we've all heard that before! One customer said we should market it as something you can actually do with your kids because it's so easy and they can't mess it up. The only downside might be that you have to let it sit for 35-45 minutes (or more if more convenient) before you buff it off. Otherwise, you spread a super thin coat (approx 1/2 oz per car), wait a bit, then wipe off. It really wipes right off and isn't stubborn. Although you want to avoid slathering on your trim, we haven't had any problems with trim staining. It can be applied just as easily by hand or with a PC or other polisher/buffer.
Durability: We've been seeing a consistent 6 months of protective durability on daily drivers. FYI, we test on various cars in various parts of the country to account for environmental variations as well. Durability in terms of protection can be extended by using Prima Hydro (as you dry from each wash) as the Epic begins to fade (per beading loss). Hydro will also refresh the gloss and wetness, but will also extend protection. On the appearance side of durability, Epic's slickness reduces slightly with time. At this point, you can QD with Slick after each wash, which will easily replenish the look/feel.
Quick tangent regarding Prima Slick vs. Prima Hydro: Although both are polymer-based, contain mild cleaners, add shine, gloss and wetness, and can both be used as QDs, they are applied differently and have some different properties from each other. Slick is the more traditional QD, although with more slickness than most. It can be used in all the many ways a QD can and also will replenish the gloss and slickness of Epic. Hydro is a spray sealant, designed to be applied either as a wax-as-you-dry product or directly on dry, clean paint. It will replenish the gloss, etc, but also adds a very durable protective layer. Although Slick does add some protection, it's not as long-lasting as Hydro by a long shot. Ok, back to Epic…
Appearance: Epic is glossy, very wet, and slick. The slickness increases after about 24-48 hours, post removal/buffing off. Although it doesn’t have the warm depth found in most carnauba waxes, it has a “wet depth” instead. We’ve found that lots of customers with black, red or other dark paint really like the Epic wetness. The depth thing can be a tough topic- most agree that the carnauba “warm depth” is just gorgeous. The problem is that carnauba waxes just don’t have the durability or protection (esp in harsh winters) that synthetics do. Epic has all the practical benefits plus a type of depth of its own. It’s wet!
I think I answered your final question already in the babble above. All in all though, Epic doesn’t need any refresher for protection- it’ll last the 6 months in most cases. If you want to spruce it up a bit for fun after a month or so, Slick or Hydro will do the trick.
Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any other questions.

PS- Sorry I took so long to respond... crazy couple of days!

My pleasure! Glad I got you thinking too.
We're truly very passionate about car care in general and our own products/tools. In addition, we have always felt from the start that it's incredibly important to be realistic- not only with how we explain things to others but to ourselves as well!
We're extremely lucky to have chemists who work for us who are mutually passionate and realistic. They're also great about acting as our chemistry consultants too. This helps keep our knowledge rooted in the technical facts.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll try to reply more quickly next time!
