Those who have stacks of wheels & tires in their garage should go to Costco; get item # 286165 ("Utility Cart") which is a dolley on casters; costs $30. Perfect for rolling things (like heavy stacks of wheels/tires) around the garage.

I know I posted pictures a long time ago but here's one more for old times sake. The house has been sold and now my car gets parked outside my apartment.

Very Nice! And I see you had the same Griots hose reel I have now. Nice room to work on things too.

Mini Storage gets a new floor

Well its finally time to put down some fresh concrete. As you can see in the photo I've been on plywood for a couple years. The room was a garage many years ago, then converted to bedroom where they put down a subfloor. I converted it back to a garage but the original concrete was too low so I've been parking on the wood.
We're redoing the driveway and the garage with fresh concrete.
What do you think I should do to the floor? I understand it needs to be sealed, someone else said polish it. I don't want it slippery though . Any recommendations?

here are some pics from my garage makeover- click on gallery to see more if interested . . . We installed a hanging system with hooks, painted the back wall Chili Red to match my MINI (took my touch up bottle to Home Depot for the match), painted side walls white, laid Race Deck tiles in checkerboard pattern, bought work table for back wall, bought mini refrigerator, installed wall mounted oscillating fan, and installed wall mounted flat screen tv for computer/internet so I can listen to Sirius while I detail her. I am waiting on my custom door mat (rug) from Vision Bedding.com (Union Jack pattern below), and a "Reserved Parking-MINI Coopers Only" sign. I will need a few more decorative touches for that red wall and a few seats for the work table, but other than that, we are done. Whew!

wpb mini, I didn't see a pic of the oscillating fan. Where did you find one? We have one in our exercise room in the house that I got at Home Depot, then I tried to find one when we did the garage and they don't carry them anymore.
Of course, I got the one I have for $16 on clearance, I should have bought all they had.

This is a really nice set up. Now you are parking outside? Ouch.

Hi Annette-

We have a small white wall mounted fan that oscillates. I think the name of the fan is "LASKO," and I believe my husband got it at Home Depot, but I would have to check to be sure. I took a couple of pics. Sorry for the cell phone quality, but I hope they give you an idea of what I have.

have a good day!

that floor looks really nice, PA-MCS. I know thinking about drywall and painting is tough, but just think about how cool your space will be when you're done!

While I've been waiting to receive my MINI I worked on my garage so it could have a nice place to come home to. I have a small 1 car garage with a low ceiling so there was only so much I could do with it. Most of the job was just cleaning out all the junk.

Here's what I did:
-Got rid of junk
-Removed old shelves
-Patched walls
-Painted walls
-Painted stripe (quite a pain the ***!)
-Installed new storage cabinets
-Installed overhead storage (for the junk I couldn't bring myself to through away)
-I also had a few electrical outlets installed.

Anyway's, here's a before picture:

And a couple after pictures:

I hope to do the floors in the future, just didn't have the money for it right now.

Thanks! After I painted that on the wall I just had to call up my MA and add the bonnet stripes to my MINI.

LOL, must match!

What are the cabinets you put in? They are really sharp.

Post a pic with the MINI when you take delivery.

Exactly! They just have to match!

The cabinets are black and decker garage storage cabinets. I got them at Lowe's (http://www.lowes.com/SearchCatalogDi...ogId=10051&N=0).

I'll be sure to take another picture .

Why don't you do the floors with the garage floor epoxy you can get at any of the big box stores. You can cover it with the tiles later when you get the funds.

How much does that run?

A big deterrent to doing the floors is also that there is a bunch of adhesive residue on the concrete, apparently a previous owner of my house had carpet down in garage.

I think the kit for a standard garage is like $70. Is the residue around the edges of the garage or all over? If it is the perimeter edge then I'd tape off up to the residue and make it look intentional.
You could also buy one of the roll out mats and cut it to fit. Sam's and Costco usually have them in stock, you can also find them at jnkproducts.com

Nicely done! (love the stripes!) I'm trying to talk my landlord into fixing up the circa 1955 garage... Said if he installs the drywall/insulation, i'll paint it for free. We'll see.

Unfortunately it's all over. And from what I've heard the floor has to be super clean in order to apply the epoxy (am I wrong?). Although I didn't realize it was that cheap for the epoxy, maybe I could hire someone to clean the floors.

Thanks, I think the stripes had the biggest effect on making the garage look good. It's amazing the difference a few coats of paint can make. Good luck with the landlord.
