Outdoor covers

My hubby is being a dork and insists that the MC cannot "sleep" in the garage, as that space belongs to his "baby" (a 1990 Jeep Wrangler).

What's a good, lightweight cover that I can use at night/on weekends when the car is parked? It would have to be one that can be used in rain.

I have the covercraft evolution. http://www.covercraft.com/technalon%AE.htm

I bought it because I temporarily will have to park it out in the elements unless I rent a storage building. I live in Oklahoma where we have frequent hail storms, so I needed something that would at least minimize damage. I decided to take my chances with the evolution. It works great! It's thinner than I imagined, but it's already saved me some trouble. I had it parked at the edge of my driveway, and a guy came and mowed my lawn while I was at work. (I wish I'd known he was planning to mow that day; I would have moved my Mini.) Anyway, he hit the car with the mower or the weedeater, not sure which. I got home and noticed that the cover was torn in the front. I was scared to lift it ...but when I did all I saw was a little lightened area where it had hit. I wiped it a little and WahLah, it was going away. It's already impossible to see, but I figure once I put some 303 on it, it will be nonexistent. My point is, if I hadn't had my Mini covered, I would have probably cried myself to sleep for many a moon.

PS I bought it at autoanything.com. It cost me about $150 for the cover, a lock, and a storage bag. Not a bad deal.

you could always go fancy schmancy...

which i think is awesome (also @ minimania, ~$329). But I would expect that one to get stolen in my neighborhood, so i opeted for the OEM version (~$199)...

Still, I wish I could get KIA or Hyundai sticker to put over the MINI logo.

(Longs for a garage... with a lock.)

This is what we haver on order from Moss Mini. I've had one of their covers for my MGB, and is excellent. This one is of the same materials.

Can't go wrong with the Covercraft covers. I went with the Noah for all weather protection. Its made of high quality material...easy to put on and it carries a nice warranty.

The covers sold by MINI are very cheap in quality but not price. If you were to feal the material that they use you would know what I am talking about.

I got my cover off of ebay for $150.....including the lock and storage bag!

I have had mine since March and I have used it everyday since. We get all weather types here in the metro DC area.

Happy motoring!

I agree that his Jeep sucks, hehe...yesterday, I clayed my car and he was making fun of me the entire time...

And then he saw the results and an hour later I looked outside and he was claying his Jeep

I ended up ordering the Evolution from Griot's (I had a 15% off coupon).

A 1990 Jeep Wrangler being protected over a Mini I mean it's not even a "classic" or anything, it's just a 16 year old Jeep

Ah well you are a good wife to let him have his way

I've been using a Noah Covercraft cover for a while now and definitely recommend it. It's breathable and pretty easy to work with. I got mine at anythingauto.com. The cover even has room enough for lights on the front grill.
