Paint stripped to metal... Please help!!

Hi All,

First of all, this is a great forum. I found this forum while trying to find solution for my stupidity...

I have my PW MCS for about a month, and last weekend I decided to clean the inside under the hood. I used the Black Magic 2 in 1 engine shine to remove the grimes and oil marks on the chassis since the direction on the can said it's safe to use on fender. I might have scrubbed too hard, and to my horror, the paint on the passenger side strut mount is stripped. I'm not sure if it's stripped to the metal or just to the primer. I attached pic of the mount plus some area where the stripping is less severe.

I'm thinking of these options to do:
1. repaint the whole problem section which is the passenger side fender/strut mount.
2. get a touch up paint (preferably the pen/sharpie type), and hand paint the stripped part. Is there any spray type touch up paint for mini?

3. cover the stripped part with clear coat (either spray or sharpie type).

I'd like to ask from your expertise/experience, which is the best option. I'm leaning toward option 2 or 3 because of cost factor. Do you guys have a recommendation where to find those stuffs? Anyone here live in LA area and could assist me with this? Any recommended body shop in LA area that I should give a try? Also, I'd like to know if I leave those parts as it is now, will it rust later on?

Thank you for your inputs.

yikes...that 'oil' you pulled off. isn't that the protective coating the
factory puts on?

anyway, i would first flush the area with a mists of water and
wipe down completely with alcohol. then re-prime.

You should be fine with touch up paint, none of those spots are too large.

You just took int back down to the primer, noothing to worry about. Just wipe don't the area with regular rubbing alchol wait for it to dry. Get some newsapaper and masking tape and just make a small box around the affected area, make sure that you have a large area masked off so you don't get over spray every where. Then Go to the local parts store and buy some touch up spray paint, thery probally won't have the exact name pepper w but trust me they will have someting very, very close. There are so many shades of white it'll make your head spin. Next spray a couple lights coats, make sure you do a couple light coats. Also look on certain cans of paint some of them I believe has the letters CC or someting like that in front of the paint color, that means it already has the clear coat in the paint, making it a one step process. Don't spray to many coats or you will build up the paint higher than the factory and when you remover your tape you will have a noticibe square where you just painted.

Recap:
1.Buy paint with clear coat already in it (automotive paint)
2.Mask area off good.
3.wipe area off good and let dry with alchol (won't take long to dry)
4.Spray a few lights coats just intil the gray is covered.
5.wait 10 min then remove tape carefully then part the car in the sun if 6.possible with the hood open to speed drying time I'd say at least an hour but don't touch it for at least 12.

Or you could just leave it alone as from the looks of it, it should be ok.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys

So I guess, I should leave the yellowish thing alone? I see many pics of the engine compartment totally cleaned... so I thought that's one thing I have to take out...

I'll be very happy if it is just the top coat that's missing. If the primer still there, I'll prolly just leave it that way as one of its battle scars.

^ not sure if the crap you had on there was just motor oil or not... like
someone forgot to tighten the filter enough or oil cap wasn't on properly,
etc.

I believe that Pete at My Mini carries spray touch up paint that comes very very close to match.
