Washing on the Road - GURUS ???
Washing on the Road - GURUS ???
Question on traveling, like on vacation ... not talking about the Dragon.
Lets say you take a motoring vacation, a couple of weeks on the open road. No clearbra, no vinyl bra.
Ive done that before in a white car up in Montana in the front end became a graveyard for bugs, took a while to clean them all off.
NOT going to any carwashs .... so how to keep the car clean.
My thoughts were take some Wolfgang Detailing Mist with microfiber towels to clean 95% of the gunk off (not bugs)
Then some Pinnacle Carnauba mist to give a spot shine where needed .... both of these products work very well and are great for touchups between major detailing efforts
No zaino (not part of that cult .... no need to discuss)
Any thoughts? What about the bugs!

Give your baby a good claybar and sealant (Klasse, Zaino), NXT or a very good coat of wax right before you go. The slicker the surface before you go, the easier it will be to clean along the way.
I'm taking my hose to Fontana... to mix a really large batch of the Zaino Kool-Aid.

I use NXT was all the time with the QuikDetailer. The NXT detailer seems
to remove the NXT Techwax more than the regular QuikDetailer, so use
the red bottle.
Keep cleaning it after every run and apply more wax on top of the old
wax. when you get home, remove all wax build up with some dish soap
and wax again.

Dittos! I find the self-wash places and use them. Also, keep some Simple Green in a spray bottle...spritz it on the really baked-on bug guts, wait a few minutes, then clean off (YuccaPatrol taught me that technique). It doesn't hurt the paint or finish, and lifts off the guts very nicely!
Make yourself a travel kit! I sometimes toss in a small bucket, mitt and waffle weave if I know I will want to do a full wash. Then you only need the hose at the hotel or onsite at the event. The choice of product can be your own.

To take care of that dead bug problem, use this:
http://www.sportscarcare.com/scc/pro...ItemID=cor-rej
Apply it directly on top of your wax - it is not a wax or polish. Make
sure you follow the directions. This product is amazing. You can
literally wipe off the dead bugs with a towel. I also used it on my xB -
which is worse than the MINI for bug guts - and it works great. Apply
it to your wheels to make the brake dust rinse right off as well.
I concur with chows4us on the Pinnacle mist. I just discovered this a
couple of weeks ago, and WOW. What a shine!

The product above is REJEX, GOT IT! I've been using it on the wheels. It makes a HUGE difference. A lot of brake dust doesnt stick and whatever does, just slides right off. It does say for use on paint but I was afraid to try that but putting it on top of the wax is a GREAT idea. Will try, thanks!
Yes Pinnacle spray canauba is amazing stuff!

Yes, Rejex is a solvent based product that goes on and wipes off really easily. It's fun to use. The durability is fine for show cars but IMO disappointing in everyday use. I have it on my Porsche right now just for fun.
brad- you carry all that stuff for your car, but when you travel, i bet
you don't even bring shampoo or styling gel for your own hair!

1-dust off Mini with California duster (must have!)
2-spray on Mother's speed detailer and wipe/polish with clean micro fiber
3-clean glass with Invisible Glass and wipe with "dish towel"
4- wipe down black trim and apply Trim Shine
For nasty bug stains and tar, I use Tarminator. If the bugs are really thick, I bring a spray bottle of water/paper towels. Soak liberally the bugs and paper towel and wet wash to remove the bulk of the guts before applying speed detailer
