Door Defender - Magnetic Car Door Protector

Does anyone have experience with this product?

The set (for both sides of car) retails for USD $69 + USD $9 shipping. Not bad for the protection it claims to provide

Magnetic, eh? Looks to me like someone in the parking lot would say "Hmmm, I need a set of those..." and proceeds to take yours as their own.

Aside from the metal of your car doors, the other thing that these would attract is people who like to mess with cars whose owners are obviously going to extraordinary lengths to protect them. You know, like the people that park 2" away from your car out in the parking lot boonies.

I almost saw this going the way of "adjustable powerbands" and the "tornado blower"

The manufacturer claims that these are "Theft proof" and secured with a steel cable and lock mechanism when in place.

Or some lowlife that may find it "amusing" to key your car

Threepoints I don't like about them:

-They only cover part of your door. An SUV is high enough to catch just the top curve of the door, for example (I have a dent to prove it! )

-Anything that magnetically sticks on to your car's body may scour the paint with the dirt that is on your car.

-That just calls more attention to your car, asking for vandelism.

As usual, the best solution is to use those perfectly working legs of yours and park far away!

But do they say what kind of damage could occur to your car when some idiot TRIES to steal them from you ???

Call me crazy, but 'Steel cables' and my MCS just don't sound right in the same sentence...Yikes!

In my case, our commuter car got dinged last week sometime... i was
washing our 06Legacy and found a nice big crease on the rear passenger
door. along with a scuffing down the crease and another one
around the premeter.

i think some fat lady got out, coudn't quite fit through the door opening
so pushed against our car and rubbed her fat butt cheek on our door.

some PDR today (im a trained rookie) along with ScratchX and NXT
Techwax took care of it. can't tell.

while all this, my MCS continues to be scratch free. my recommendation?
just get another car for daily chores.

How long and how much does it take to become a PDR technician? I am interested in pursuing this as a business venture.....

^^ really depends person to person.

i spent about $3k on tools and training. not cheap, but then again,
i don't care about getting my commuters dinged cause I can fix it.
