Gummi-Pflege replacement

Back when I owned a Honda del Sol, I'd drive on over to my local BMW dealer to buy tubes of Gummi-Pflege to keep my roof seals well lubed. Back then, I always felt very out of place going to buy this stuff for my little Honda

Anyways, for some reason BMW decided to stop selling Gummi-Pflege here in the USA. So I've been on a search for a replacement product.

It seems that my replacement product is available from guess where - Honda It's an OEM product from Shin-Etsu.

I'll know Monday if it takes care of my noisy window seals.

Let us know how it works. I've been thinking about doing something about my creaking convertible rear windows (sounds like rubbing against the seals). I came across this product which I haven't ordered yet: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/cata...inszt_pg11.htm

On a different webpage they gave this description:
Gummi-Pflege Rubber Treatment
Keep your valuable seals and rubber looking factory fresh. Gummi-Pflege is specially formulated for protecting rubber from UV damage and keeps rubber from drying out, staying supple and pliable for years to come. While BMW has stopped making their Gummi-Pflege product, we at Pelican Parts have found a fantastic alternative. It's made by Einszett, a German company. This product gives the same level of protection you've expected from the original Gummi-Pflege.

Yep, that's the original Gummi. I love this stuff. It's still around, you just have to search for it.

I would be interested to know if the Honda grease leaves any film or residue on the glass.

Good luck.

You said it! My last tube ran out about 14 months ago. I've been looking for a place that sells it since then. I found one part number for an aerosol version of gummi pflege on roadfly: BMW # 83120301480.

How does either of these compare with 303?

No comparison, really. Gummi is for soft seals specifically. You can see it really treat the seals and make them softer and more resiliant. It acts differently than most dressings. The tube/applicator is best.

Yes, I use 303 and Gummi completely independently of each other.

Gummi made my windows stop creaking against the rubber after the mini dealer said they wouldn't touch the problem 'cause my windows are tinted. I'd say there's no way 303 would do that.

Well it took care of the noise! Just like it was when my MINI was new Not so greasy and absolutely no oder (which the gummi always had a bit of)

But it left a tiny bit of residue on the windows. I'm not going to worry about that now, but when it gets warmer out, I'll do the full grease/talcum power regiment.

As far as I'm concerned, I've found a replacement
