My wrist hurts !!!
My wrist hurts !!!
...but it was worth it!
I'd had some problems with my dealer-installed clear bra, so I've held off on waxing my Mini until I was sure that I wouldn't have to worry about the surface being too slick for good adhesion. But the dealer finally came through, and the clear bra looks like it's smooth and well-stuck. So I started the shining process yesterday....
I washed the car, then applied Zymol HD Cleanse. After reading comments on this site, I was very careful to avoid the black trim as much as possible, and I wiped off any boo-boos immediately, before they could dry. After I wiped off the HD Cleanse from the paint, I could feel it going "squeak" when I dragged a finger across it. It was also noticeably smoother-feeling in the HD Cleansed areas, compared to non-HD Cleansed regions.
This morning, I got up early, and started the Zaino process. I wanted to apply 2 layers of Z5, and 2 layers of Z2. I used the accelerator - otherwise, there's no way I could have gotten four layers in one day.
It's now 2:30 PM, and I'm sitting in the garage, admiring my handiwork. I don't have a camera available, but all I can say is - good God, my car looks amazing! The bonnet looks as if it were molten, and it reflects the soft afternoon light like - ahem, sorry, but the poet in me just got loose!
But seriously, it's been a very busy day, and a LOT of hard work, but it has been well worth the effort. Even my spouse remarked on how shiny the car looks. THAT is a major accomplishment!

When I am in the mood, there is nothing like spending hours rubbing on my Bruno
But seriously, next time, try to use your entire arm rather than moving your wrist. Your arms may be sore the next day, but just think of it as a workout. It's harder on your wrist to do repetitive motions than your shoulder, that's what causes carpel tunnel. Next time you wax, make an effort to use your entire arm so your wrist doesn't hurt and you don't cause damage to yourself

I never have problems applying Zaino or polish (I use the PCDA). My problem is ClayBar. I was in a hurry last time (I did the whole process in 2.5 hours, inside and out + the engine) and my arm ached for days. Oh well... it's the price we pay for automotive perfection!
Great job. I love that feeling of looking at a well-detailed car. You are going to enjoy that feeling for weeks... every time you climb in.
