Wheel discoloration

I was Zaino-ing my car for the first time today (it looks awesome) and I noticed that my driver side front wheel was discolored.

I have BBS RG-R wheels, with the hyperblack painted surface. The discoloration looks like brake dust, but it doesn't come off! My other three wheels are fine, and came clean as normal...any idea what this is, and if it is permanent?

to describe it a little better...it looks like blotches of brake dust all over the wheel...when rubbed with a cotton towl and car wash solution, it doesn't come off. I'm afraid to spray any wheel cleaner on it, because I'm not sure it it will ruin the finish. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean by "hanging up."

rotor overheating, making noise, do you smell brakes while driving?

my dads f150 had a caliper that was sticking and it turnd them from a silver wheel to a gold wheel due to the intense heat from the rotor.

Not really any noise from the brakes, but I have been SMELLING brakes as of late. I was drove to and from las vegas this weekend, and was driving at high speeds...for 3-4 hours each way. The weather was hot, and I could have had some really hot brakes at times.

Since you have a Zaino kit, try a little clay bar on it. BTW, you can use wheel cleaner, just make sure it says ok for painted surfaces.

It's not like there is anything on the wheel that can removed...it's almost like it's tattooed into the finish. It wasn't like this last week when I washed the car.

Could it be as simple as a clearcoat stain? (Hopefully just on the surface.) Treat the wheel surface just like paint on the car. Treat a test area. Take a foam applicator -not terry cloth, or a towel-and use a fine polish or swirl remover and rub in back and forth motions only (not circular) and see if that improves the situation at all.

Thanks Brad...I'll give that a try, as it could simply be some sort of staining from the hot brake dust.
