Bug Guts??
Bug Guts??
Driving out to the track last weekend and i got a bombardment of bugs! my windshield was covered with guts of those flying beasts... and let's not mention the front end... i got 3 bee splats on my bumper, one unfortunately was caught into the m7 grille, half it's *** wrigglying around outside, the other half.......
i wanted to know if there's any quick cure to taking care of those things?

Keep a good coat of wax on the car.
Wash them off as soon as you can.
Use a good quick detailer to get the worst off.
My MC looks like this every morning after my 50 mile commute.

But after a wand wash Poco looks like this:smile:

Here is my quick cure. It will probably leave the detailing gurus cringing, but it works!
1) Saturate the front end with a 50/50 solution of Simple Green and water
2) Let it soak and sit on there for about 30 minutes
3) Blast off with whatever high-pressure setting on your hose nozzle
Simple Green will remove your wax, so re-wax if you had wax on it in the first place

Whoa
Talk about bug massacre
For the usual bug situation...I keep a small bottle of windshield fluid in the boot along with a clean towel and disposeble cotten weaves. Fold the cotton and saturate with fluid then wipe off bugs, dry with clean towel...toss bug gut cotton and motor on

I've never been a fan of front-end bras, but Lot15 you should have one for Poco.
That's just disgusting.

Good god... Are their any insects left in Manitoba?? I know it's largely rural (when outside of the major areas), but dang...And what kind of Canadian are you?? Quoting ranges in miles...
Metric dang you!
god lot15... i can feel poco's pain........ my windshield looks like that after my trip back from shannonville last weekend..... went to the gas station, and use their crappy squigee to try and get them off, but the worst are always in the front....
its almost weird... none of the family cars in my family suffer the same problem.... since when did bugs love mini?

Here's a tip from the "biker guy"
Stuff is called Bike Bright, spray it on hose it off. Works on everything, chrome, glass and all those bugs. MINIs must just attract them, I've never seen so many squashed bugs in my life till I got these little flat nosed cars
Still like em though...just keep my ashtray full of quarters for the spray wash, have to stop there anyway to get the brake dust off the wheels

I might have to go through my first drive through wash tonight. I've washed my MINI every weekend since i bought it in march. But this weekend/week has been so dreadful, i just don't have the motivation to go out and wash it.
Griots is now selling a product called "Bug Off" (creative, eh?) that is a protectant sprayed on before the bugs make contact. Then supposedly they can just be rinsed off. I've not tried it personally, but the products I have tried from them have lived up to their claims. My personal solution, like others who posted, has always been a good coat of wax and wash them off as soon as possible. For those who want to try Bug Off, here's a link.

A really good soaking of good ole water is my best solution. Like getting it out of the garage in the rain for at least an hour, or use a lawn sprinkler. Just keep it wet, wet, wet. Bug splatter just disolves away, a normal wash, and done.
Of course a good base wax is key.
