Questions from potential Zaino user
Ok I've read a few of the threads about Zaino so now I'm just about ready to purchase. What I am unsure about is what products to purchase. You can pick and choose which products to get or you can get their kits. The more expensive kit having leather products. My interior is leatherette so I'm guessing I should get the more expensive kit. Then there is stuff not offered in the kits like Z8 or the glass cleaner, etc. Any recommendations would be helpful!
Zaino Stuff
Hi Strider!
The critical stuff to get is:
Clay Bar
Z5 Polish
Z2-Pro Polish
Z-FX activator
Z-6 Gloss Enhancer
Z-16 Tire Gloss
May as well also get:
Z-8 Grand Finale
and a couple of applicators
Don't recommend:
Leather care (you've got leatherette)
Glass polish (it's too mild to do anything)
Plastic cleaner (you don't have a convertible with plastic)
I think Kit #1 plus the extra stuff is the best way to go.

Get the more expensive kit. Doesn't matter if you have the leatherette, it does a great job cleaning it and will make it smell like you do have leather! The plastic cleaner...I highly recommend it! It works fantastic on your dash and all the plastic chrome bits. Makes it super shiny! I like the glass cleaner a lot, but it's something you only use once in a while for stuff like bad water spots. It's not necessary unless you have hard water problems from, say, a sprinkler head. Besides, the wheel/trim cleaner comes with the more expensive kit. You'd have to buy that separately otherwise.

Hey, how are you. I remember you posted on the Metro site that you could not get the wax out of the little mixing bottle... I agree it leaves a residue no matter what you use to clean it... I found wiping it dry works ok, but a better fix is going to The Container Store on Westheimer and buying the bottles in the travel section... they are like $0.79, so pretty much disposable....

I've also just purchased the Z10 Leather in a bottle, primarily for the smell
Another important product you'll need is a set of high quality wax removal towels. I use DF Concours terry cloth towels. Others seem to favor high quality microfiber. There's a lot of info on the forum around this; read up.
You're on the right track. If you have more questions, go to http://www.zainocharlotte.com/ to get Steve's phone number. Give him a call. I'm sure he or Leslie can answer all your questions.

Well I took the plunge and ordered the ultimate kit and a bottle of Z8. We'll see how it looks after I get it all and apply it! I talked to a guy at Zaino and he doesn't like microfiber because it's from overseas and you the quality of the microfiber may or may not be good.

The DF® Concours Towel, is an exceptionally soft, super absorbent terrycloth. The fabric is woven from our own unique AlpineFiber™ yarn. AlpineFiber™ is made entirely of a blend of microfiber Cotton and Pima Cotton, no artificial fibers of any kind are used in the weaving or sewing of this amazing product.
The towels have finished edges so that they do not produce loose threads when washed. Just be sure to stay away from fabric softeners when washing & drying.I've definitely heard good things about using the right Microfiber towels as well. Available at Autopia. Just beware of cheap MF towels as they scratch.

A shiny dash is not something to aspire to, unless you like distracting reflections in the windshield.
You also don't need extra applicators - 2 come in each kit.
You don't need any special cleaner for leatherette - it's plastic. Soap and water do as good a job as anything.
I got the #1 kit, and it's all I need. Everything works wonderfully!

Hi Joel! Haven't been on in a few days...just saw your post.
Thanks for the tip, Brad! I'll have to try that out. I have lots of DM in the garage (don't ask why...I have no reason
).
I use the MF towels myself. I prefer them over the cotton ones. It gets it off better and quicker in the hot Houston sun.
