Color Easiest to Keep Looking New?

I am still debating with myself over what color MINI to get next year, I'm having such a hard time making up my mind.
Here's a rundown of my opinions:

Black- Just detailed my Dad's Impala as his fathers day gift, and I saw so many light scratches, and small dings it was rediculous.

Pepper White/ Liquid Yellow- Bugs, tar, and dirt all show up very easily

Also, what color roofs do you find easier to keep clean. I can picture white roofs showing off all kinds of sap or waterspots very easily.

My car is currently a medium metallic blue, and it's very easy to keep looking good, but so many people are getting Hyper Blue for their MINIs, I want to stand out. The colors I do like:

1. British Racing Green
2. Hyper Blue (I like it the most, but since it'll be so popular[I want a unique MINI] it's now 2nd)
3. Chili Red (I love the way it looks on the MC40)
4. Pepper White (I like it, but I'd like to be different than the 80% of the population that drive white, black tan, or silver cars)
5. Liquid Yellow (In certain pictures it looks too pastel like for me, but when it looks vibrant, I love it)

My advice - the Hyper Blue is only popular among the boards - gotta remember most new purchasers won't even know it's an option for a while, and even when they do a lot of people will choose other colors just like they used to. Also don't forget all those 02-04 Coopers out there which will won't be Hyper Blue. HB will be "unique" for quite a while IMO. Also, since HB is metallic it will much easier to keep clean than a non-metallic color.

I don't know how often you wash your Cavalier but you may find yourself hoping your MINI gets dirty so you can wash it. Things like this happen when you have a MINI!

I have an electric blue with a black roof and black stripes. It looks very nice and the black really makes the blue look a little darker. This is by far the easiest car that I have ever had to keep looking clean. I can go a month without washing it and you can't tell it is dirty unless you get up close. Scratches are very hard to notice as well.

Thank you resmini and dgszweda1.

I usually wash the Cavalier every 3 weeks or so in the summer, but it's only a Cavalier I have a car cover for it, but I only use it for a few days after I wash it, it gets hard to put it on at night Hopefully the one that's specially made for the MINI is easier.

I'd probably wash the MINI every week or so, but I want it to stay looking clean easily since I won't have access to a garage.

I really think that the BRG black roof, chrome grille and side view mirrors with driving lights and 16" Panasports would look pretty cool in a retro English racer sort of way, but I like my blues too.

Have IB, looks great, but it's a pig to keep clean. Park downtown Boston in an open lot during the day and the city dust just settles on it. Need to wash at least once a week. If you don't want to keep cleaning go with silver.

Your BRG example sounds great. The Panasport wheels are my favorites.....go for it!

Keep us informed and remember, the anticipation is fun too.

 You will love whichever MINI you get SO much, that you really will enjoy washing your baby, so don't worry too much. I have an all Jet Black MCS, and it is definitely the hardest to keep clean. But I LOVE her so much, I actually really love cleaning her! LOL! But, I think that Electric Blue is probably the easiest to keep clean-looking.

Thanks Dan and clo/Wanda!

I'm not a fan of silver at all, especially on something as fun as the MINI! IMO silver should be reserved for Camrys, Accords, Impalas, and Tauruses.

I don't mind wiping off some dust; its the bird crap, tree sap, and water spots that bother me on the horizontal surfaces.

My BRG shows dirt, well I see it,no one else does, but I wash at least once a week,as I have gravel roads to deal with. The white wheels are some work, brake dust and general road grime, but with wheel cleaner and polish it's not to bad.I love the white roof, very easy to keep looking good:smile:When Poco is dirty and I have no time to clean him, I like to think he looks tough. All MINIs look great clean and shiny

Thanks, lot15.

I originally didn't want a white roof because it would be hard to clean, but it would look more retro with a white roof rather than a black roof.

Are there any others that could chime in on the good and bad of the black or white roof choice?

I have a MINI with a white roof and a MINI with a black. The black shows dust, pollen, and rainspots more readily.

Though I really like BRG as a color, think of it along the lines of the IB or JB in terms of showing dirt, it's a dark color.

Me, I love the Pepper White!!

I agree with Clover. I have an IB/W. IB is a dark color and is harder to keep clean but after 17 months of ownership I don't care one bit. It is a fabulous color and I love it and I've simply adjusted to keeping it clean. No problem. (I wash it once a week or more...not that it looks bad but simply because I love motoring in shiney, spotless MINI.)

White roof....very easy to keep clean, imo. I rarely have to clean the roof at all unless the birds get naughty.

Moral of the story: try as best you can to get a color YOU love. Don't worry about the rest. Just be prepared to get some good detailing supplies and get ready to make some minor lifestyle adjustments. Once all that is in place its really not much of a problem. Go for the love!!!!!!

Thanks again!

I really like most of the colors, really. Pepper white, liquid yellow, hyper blue, british racing green, chili red...

They all have their pluses and minuses IMO. Also the fact that the different colors look better with different accessories...

My 04 MCS is jet black with a white top and wheels; looks great when it's clean but it's a PITA to keep looking sharp. Also it is so easy to spider web the paint you have to be especially careful not to use anything but soft cotton cloth when you wash and dry and resist the urge to dust it with anything but a proper duster then do it carefully! Do I love the car???????? Oh yeah. Do I dislike the color so much that I'd go without a MINI to get another??...No way!!.............mgg

Bird crap has the amazing ability to show up black on a white roof and white on a black roof. It's the revenge of our feathered friends.

My MINI's roof is white, (CR/W), and it's not especially hard to keep clean....plus it has a more classic look to it.

As soon as your order is placed you'll change your mind about the color.....but, whatever color you get will be beautiful.

If you have mullberry trees in your backyard, the birdcrap can be a
bright purple and cream mix....shows up on any MINI color!

I have a solid gold Mini and it doesn't show dirt very well and my weekly cleaning keeps her shining. Although I do hate brake dust...

The white tops and mirror caps are not that hard to keep looking clean.

The Chili Red is very easy to take care of and is a stand out color. Since it's not a metalic paint, covering blemishes and touch-up is very easy as well.

When it rains and gets really dirty (in my opinion) it still looks very clean compared to others on the road.

I have purchased one black car in my life -- never again. Well, I still have a black Jeep, but that was inherited when I got married!

I really like Chilli red with Black roof. BRG/White contrasts too much and BRG/Black is not enough. PW/Black would also look very nice. Good luck choosing! Stay away from Ds/Black. That's mine!

Redredred

I have Chili Red with black roof and black bumper inserts. I love my color. Ease of clean? I wouldn't know, as I wash it all of the time. It is so sharp and it's a great combination.
