Dr. Color Chip Experience?

I recently got a couple of rock chips in on the front of my bonnet that I'd like to fix soon. I just placed an order for some Dr. Colorchip touchup paint after reading some good reviews, but I'm just wondering if anybody here has had experience with this product and if it's as easy to use as they say it is? I'm also going to get some Xpel film on the front of my MINI after I touch it up to prevent this from happening again.

I'm about to do the same. Looks pretty easy. Fingers crossed.

I've used Dr Colorchip since I got my Mini. I just ordered a bottle for my new 2011. I think it works great. Perfect no, but very good.

I used it a couple of weeks ago on rock chips on my bonnet/hood. It won't stand up to super close scrutiny, but it's easy to apply, the paint match was spot on, and from standing you can't really tell where they were. Very pleased with the results, it let me defer the respray I was planning.

That's good to hear. My rock chips are very small. I'm planning on putting Xpel Film on the lower part of the bonnet, front bumpers and mirrors as soon as I touch up the chips...hopefully will prevent this from happening again.

I was going to do this too, but the lower part of my bumper around the brake ducts/lower grille is really too far gone, and I didn't even attempt the Dr. Color Chip on it. I only did the hood and the top and "flat part" of the bumper where the tow hook plug and the front plate is. I'm waiting until I can justify a respray of that part before I do the clear bra.

The only thing that concerns me is putting a clear bra over the touched up chips. If the clear bra has to be removed at some point, will it pull the touch up paint off with it?

Tried this out this weekend. It works, somewhat. Certainly not as easy as the video on the site makes it out to be. I had to go over a few spots several times. On the small spots it works as advertised. On the larger spots, it's not so great. Better than a paint pen, but it is $60.

MINI has official paint chip repair kits as well. Anyone have experience with those vs. Colorchip?
