Hydro Max vs Epic
Hydro Max vs Epic
I've been handwashing and using Hydro instead of wax. I love the look it produces, but it does not last long, as we all know.
I want to move into something more durable with a wet, glossy shine, so I went to the Prima website and saw Epic, which seemed the right choice. Then I saw the new Hydro Max, but could find no details on it.
Does anyone have experience with Hydro Max and Epic?
Secondly, if Epic is the correct choice, then do I want to use another product, such as Hydro, between waxes?

I've been a loyal Epic user for many years but this past weekend after polishing away some winter swirls, I decided to try Hydro Max for the first time. From an aesthetic perspective after just two days, I think my MINI's finish with HM looks just as good now as it would have looked with Epic (perhaps better, since with HM I didn't have to worry about staining the trim and was able to cover the painted surfaces much more thoroughly).
It remains to be seen how durable it will be; however, the HM was several orders of magnitude easier to apply than Epic. I suspect that Epic might be a bit longer lasting but even if I have to apply the HM twice as often it will still be a massive labor and time savings over the multi-step Epic process.
Epic and HM are both polymer sealants and both should provide a good base for Hydro. I plan to continue my normal practice of applying Hydro when drying after every wash (using Hydro Wash). If I need a deeper shine for a special occasion like a show, I'll top everything off with a coat of Banana Gloss.
So I give it a
based on my experience thus far. We shall see.

Banana Gloss is great, but I wish it beaded a bit better. I've done double and triple coats to try to get the water to just roll off (it helps keep the car clean if nothing can stick to it, right? lol) and its not quite as good as Epic or your more run of the mill wax on/wax off waxes :P
All of that being said, I doubt I'll mess with anything else. It's just a simple and reliable system that has fantastic results that DO last a week or so - even with occasional bits of rain.
Clarifying: I do Hydro wash, Hydro while drying, and every 4 or so washes a double layer of Banana Gloss.

I know this is an old threa but instead of starting a new one. Here is my MINI and Subaru after prima: mystic, amigo, and epic. Black trim treated with Nero. Epic is work but this shine will last through the winter with occasional quick wax. I have used this line for a few years and have not had to re buy anything yet it lasts forever.
