I'm doing the kiwi thing now. Got a bottle, did a test portion on my rear arch. I've tried the other stuffs, they just wash off :(
Can't beat $3 for a bottle of kiwi tho!

I tried this over the weekend. It turned out looking great. We had some rain and I drove in it and so far it is holding up.

A funny side note on the Kiwi leather dye. I purchased mine at a Wal-Mart. When I got to the checkout the attendant asked me how much the leather dye cost. At that moment I didn't recall and told her as much. She told me to tell her a reasonable price. I said $.50. She gave me a funny look and said it needed to be reasonable, like a dollar. At that moment I remembered that it was $4.50ish for the bottle and agreed with her that it was in fact $1.00.

Suck it, Wal-Mart!!

Anyway, thanks for the tip as I have not had much luck with other products!

Do you use the "dobber" or a cloth/rag to apply and do you wipe off the excess.

Thanks - good tip for sure

I used the sponge that's on there. Did all my arches and roof trim. Will be doing my side mirrors next.

Have a rag for drips, if you squeeze too hard.

I didn't wipe any off. It seems to soak into the plastic, and eventually dries. You may need to re coat it the next day, as some spots may be uneven.

I too did kiwi dye on my trim.....

.... i did about 2 -3 coats .. i am happy with it! for $4 cant be beat

i had really bad dried up fenders gray in color... these made them black .. not super shiny or anything just black....

i accidentally hit some some tire shine spray... on it and it made it even deeper black in that one spot lol

but I have had it on for 3 weeks now.. no signs of gray coming back... its been hit by rain and sun.. no fading.. it does attract dust

I had a bottle of this in my basement. I have been planning to do it for a while. I just did it this morning, and now I put a second coat on. It looks great, although the second coat started dissolving the first coat in some places, causing almost pilling on the black. I'll let it dry for a couple of days and see whether I can get it smooth somehow and put another coat on.

Anybody have any suggestions how to get it smooth?

what I did was put it on heavy then use a microfiber cloth almost immediately after to smooth it out, and I would do 2 full coats on the car. when fully dried i applied Back To Black to give it a gloss look

I wonder if it can be used on the tires themselves, as a semi-permanent alternative to other tire dressing products.
