Black Wow Streaking

I'm using a foam applicator pad and following the directions (pea-sized drop) but it seems like I can't prevent visible streaking on my fender flares. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Visible streaking? Are you talking about shiny areas that are standing out from less shiny areas? What you need to do is apply the BW to the plastic and let it absorb for several hours, or days. Then wash the car normally...the plastic will be black and matte..the way it's intended to be. I know it's contrary to most people's understanding of plastic trim products that are applied AFTER a wash, but BW is different because it absorbs into the plastic and what's on the surface is washed off.

Yes, areas that are shiny-er than others. Was not aware of applying BW *then* washing. Will give it a try; thanks, Richard!

Yep what you are seeing is normal behavior during the initial application. Seems more common on the R56 plastics which behave a little differently than the R50/R53.

Just be sure you give it ample time to absorb before you wash it...you want to wash off what didn't absorb, and not wash it off before it's had time to absorb..so plan to do the BW a day or longer before your wash.

Good info! I noticed the same thin after my first application of the product. I made the mistake of washing first and then applying the product. It looked as the original poster described the next day. I rained the next day, kind of cleaned it off for me,
and the trim looked great!
