Removing door edge seals

Just got an AstroBlack 07 Mini and it has rubber seals on the edge of the doors, they are being held on with some kind of residue. What would be the best way to take off the residue without messing the paint up?

I probably should have chosen my wording better. It's not really the seals to the door, it's just an edge protector on the door itself. And to answer your question, the passenger door doesnt have the protector, just the residue so I want to get rid of that and make the driver side door match.

If it is just glue residue, or adhesive residue then pretty much any oil based product, from WD-40 to vegetable oil will do the trick. Just stay away from olive oil as that is pretty expensive.

Those kinds of oils won't hurt the paint in anyway?

Well, I wouldn't leave them on for a couple months, but if you apply, scrub gently, wipe and repeat until everything is gone, then clean with a good quality auto cleaning solution and appropriate cleaning mitt, wipe dry, apply some new wax over the area, you should be good to go.

If you are worried about how it might turn out, then to put your mind at ease, try it in a small area, as inconspicuous as possible, test your results and go from there. I have used oil to remove glue residue on many surfaces with no negative effects. YMMV. (Your Mileage May Vary)
