Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax contains no wax?
Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax contains no wax?
I just bought some and did my velvet red /white Mini R50 and the wife's black Honda Civic.
It's labeled as a wax, yet all the information and sales pitching makes vague reference to it not actually being a wax.
So, what is it? a wax or a sealant? It's 100% synthetic, that's known.
I like it. Although the shine it produces approaches "over-the-top"; not subtle in other words. And it repels water unlike any carnuba-based product I've used. I'm interested to see how long it lasts. I suspect quite a while. (I wash w/Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo/Conditioner.)
So what do we have here? A wax or a sealant? Or some other thing?

Ultimate Wax Liquid
I went out to the garage to see what I had. I have used Meguiar's for years, yet couldn't remember the specific product I had. Since I have something different I went to their site. http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/detail/MEG+G18216
They state that it's a synthetic wax, so whether it's a sealant, I couldn't say. In any event, my guess is that you will find it to be long lasting. Realize that "long lasting" is relative. My MINI stays indoors when I'm not driving it and it only goes out 2 or 3 times a week. I waxed it last July after bringing it home and it still looks the same. A car that is exposed to the weather, will obviously need more frequent care. I suspect you know that.
This sounds like something that I would like to try. I notice however, that many forums cater to the exotic products that are not sold in your local stores.

I use the Tech wax 2.0 which is the same concept. Why Meguiar's make so many nearly identicle products is beyond me. But yea - it beads rain water so much on the hood of my truck that the beads pool in the contours of the hood and sprays back on the windshield at freeway speeds.
Best thing is easy on and easy off - I use the liquid and can do the truck in no time and it's no small rig, 2500 crew cab, hard tonneau, roof and all get the treatment every 6 months. This year I even clay-barred the truck - first time ever used a clay bar - man is that a great product too.
