Ends of doors (r56 PW)

So after washing my MCS I noticed this..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...l/IMG_0018.jpg
Is this common? I just picked up the car and I must have been blind to miss this

What could I do to clean it and make sure it doesn't come back

What are we looking for here? I can't see a problem other than maybe a chip towards the upper part of the door? Or maybe it's dirt? Give us more details on what your question is about and maybe circle the portion you are concerned about.

I see the problem, you seem to have a bicycle trapped in between the paint layer and clear coat.

Ahh, i was perplexed like Richard at first, until I Clicked on the last link. Seems you have some paint that's been peeled off the edge of your door. Generally happens when someone rests their door against an object while entering/exiting. I suspect the main ingredient in MINI paint (especially PW) is butter.

There, that should make it easier.

In the first photo shows it best, the brown area(On the Right side along the seem). I tried to clean it will a MF wash mitt and some car wash soap but even with force it does not seem to come off..

I'll take a better photo when I get home.

Ahh, I completely missed that too. You're only a few miles from Richard. All else fails, drive over there, no doubt he can help you out.

Haha, but seriously, I think the OP is talking about the right side of the seam, not the door but the leading edge of the door jam.

Pepper White is the only MINI paint that suffers from a common problem, the paint stains easily and when it stains, it's brown.

I've seen it happen when driven through a drainage area where some fluid splashed on the paint and left brown spots all over it, I've even added stains unintentionally by clamping on a vacuum lifter...a rubber suction cup used to move glass..onto the paint that was spritzed with a quick detailer first, and it left perfectly round brown stains in the paint that required a LOT of work to improve.

If that brown staining is what we are talking about...you can hand rub some polish over the stain to improve it, but it's not a matter of applying it and wiping it off. You need to rub like a madman. Be careful of using a machine buffer including a PC, since it's on the edge, you can prematurely go through the paint if you aren't careful.

Well I wouldn't go buy some polish at the local store if you don't know what you are looking for. There are many kinds of polishes available for different purposes. Some polishes are really waxes that protect, some polishes just add gloss and do nothing for surface imperfections, some polishes are so abrasive they do more damage than good. I would suggest coming by the the shop before you resort to buying or trying something and making things worse. I had one customer recently try to do his own scratch repairs and ended up making it impossible for me to fix his mistakes as well as the original damage.

As for clear bra, I do. One of my customers just had a bunch of clear bra done on his two new cars and they did a great job.

HBSean stopped by the shop today

So here is a clearer picture of the problem. I observed this through a 10x magnifying loupe and it was some kind of substance on the paint. Normal cleaners didn't do anything, but Pre-Wow removed it quickly and I'm confident that this is permanent. A painters towel was used as the applicator tool.

I'm glad HBSean didn't try to use any polish as the location would have made it impossible to remove using a polish without compromising the paint.

I used Pre-Wow to remove the stain here..it used to extend to the skirt.
