With all the snow and salt that's gonna come into our precious MINI's, I was wondering if any of you did anything special to the floor mats for the winter. For example, scotch guarding, using a cheap set, mats over mats, etc. This is my first winter with my MINI and I want to make sure it comes out looking good!

I actually have the rubber MINI mats...
They were a bit pricey by my standards..... but I have em about a year and a half now and they are still in good shape.
I don't think I could have regular mats in my MCS.... as my lifestyle is such that they would wear out ...quickly... and they would get trashed as well.
I'm prob gonna get a new pair of rubber mats after this winter passes.
My MCS was delivered "mat-less" ......so I started with rubber and ... have stayed and remain a fan of these mats.

Peace,
D

First week I had my car I bought the rubber MINI mats from BMW...not cheap but they fit real tight and should keep the carpet clean even in the messy conditions....

I have rubber mats as well in my MINI. However, whenever I have been taking our Hondas for their services, I always help myself to their paper 'mat protectors' (or whatever you call those large sheets of stiff paper they will put in the drivers side floor). I use them when it's raining, even tho' I have rubber mats.
My Civic has carpet mats that I protected from a trip to Florida: I bought cheap carpet mats and placed them over my regular carpet mats to protect against salt and sand.

Go with the rubber mats, they do the job, look decent and don't move around.
 MINI is in the garage.

I have had my rubber mats from MacNiel for almost 10 years now and they are still in great shape. There is a tear under my heal (nothing a bit of duct tape on the underside wouldn't sure)but otherwise they look like the day I bought them.

Oh ... so you guys have problems with snow. Never had that problem, as a matter of fact I think the closest we had to snow is South Florida was in 1977. But, I am interested in the tips as one day the Mini might have to venture out perfect weather.

Cheers

I have the MINI rubber mats and have gotten them dirty with mud and rain (not unlike snow that has melted). I use Zaino vinyl treatment on them and they look great as in new. Very easy to clean up just wipe up the mess and treat as mentioned. The rubber is very heavy and durable. I have them in the front and rear as well as in the boot.
