Master Blaster
Master Blaster
Have any of you used the "Master Blaster" to dry your car? I saw an ad for it on Speed Channel and it looked like it would do a pretty good job. But before I purchased I thought I'd ask you all if you have ever used one to dry your car after washing.
The Absorber is all I've ever needed.
The "Master Blaster" (great name btw
) looks to me like an air pump with a skinny nozzle on one end, sold at a rediculous premium...

throughthedoors, you're right... it is sold at a ridiculous premium.
My question is: Is it worth the dough?
I think microfiber towels do a great job, however, there always seem to water left in the nooks and crannies. The master blaster seems to alleviate this problem but is it good enough to buy?

I also use my leaf blower, does a great job and quick. My neighbor thought it was a silly idea but guess who also uses a leaf blower now. You got it!!!

Don't have a leaf blower, but my strategy is
1) Wipe dry
2) Go for short spirited drive
3) Wipe new spots away
4) Repeat until (3) doesn't have to happen anymore
Gives me an excuse to go for a spin!

Get a cheap pancake compressor from Pep Boys and a blower tip from Harbor Freight. Use that to blow water from the crevices. This Master Blaster would work best on a car that's been waxed where the water won't stick. Course if it's waxed, you can dry it in a number of ways.
1.) Sheet the water with a running hose so you have just a few droplets to dry off.
2.) Use an Absorber towel and blot dry the paint.
3.) Use Hydro and a waffle weave drying towel.
4.) Use distilled or deionized water and just let the water dry after the final rinse. No water spots at all.
i just checked Harbor Freight. I have a 10 gallon compressor that was less than $180. They have a 21 gallon that's less than $200. Combine that with an airhose and nozzle and it'll perform much better and you can use it for air tools for maintaining the MINI and other things as well like inflating tires.

I'm a little unclear on how heated air would help. Better to blow the water off than dry it quickly with heat I would think.
If you use a compressor, and maintain it properly, there should be little to no water in the air stream. As OG says, a compressor would have many more uses. That Master Blaster could maybe double as a hair-drier.

I have the smaller version called the Air Force Blaster. http://www.metrovacworld.com/Shoppin...roduct_id=AFMD I don't use it on the entire car, just to blow the water out of the grill, mirrors, scoop, around the doors, etc before I get out the waffle weaves.
I live in a condo and don't have a leaf blower, so the small size and big power works great for me.

Thanks for all of your comments.
I have a compressor...duh!
Actually I just picked it up and haven't used it yet. It needs a hose and the nozzle, but it now seems to me to be a better solution than the "Master Blaster"

We have a couple of those for the dogs (my fiance's mom shows dogs). Never thought about using it on the car...
