No one else understands...

I've spent the rest of my day telling people how I just cleaned out my garage and made it pristine so my new Mini will have a shelter, in a very excited manner and no one seems to get what the big deal is. So here I am telling those who will appreciate the fact that my Mini will be sheltered from now on! Woohoo!

I feel your enthusiasm! I too rearranged my garage when my MINI arrived.

We have a 2 car carport that our MINIs live under, but a real garage is on our list of must haves for them.

Your talking to the right group here though

My MINI looks longingly towards our garage. The big mean SUV sleeps in there and won't let her in.

I DO hear ya! The poor Subie is now living outside so the little blue (Oxy Blue, that is) MINI can take shelter in the garage. Oh sure, I could move the tractor out of the other side of the garage, but it's pretty nice not having to clean IT off when the snow gets deep in the winter...

Good for you--job well done!

Hehe, same here, except it is a minivan that get's to occupy the garage.

Izzy, glad to hear you were able to make things a little nicer for your Mini!

You will get used to it.
My family does not understand why I will not let them dump junk in the garage or why I spend some much time detailing the car. To most people a car is just an appliance like a blender or drill.

You know, if you watch shows like OverHaulin', you do see that cars are sometimes not just an appliance or belonging. It irks me when someone don't understand the personal intrinsic value of something and just brushes it off as just another thing. This runs along the lines of people(mainly clients who come into the hospital I work at) who refuse to take care of their pets because he/she is just a cat/dog. -.-

My dad has his 67 Ford Galaxie parked beside the Mini right now in my garage(he doesn't have a garage). The Galaxie is pretty much sanked into the ground(he's not touched it for at least a decade). One of these days I'm gonna clean that car up-unfortunately he's not given me permission to do so.(I'm thinking of veto-ing that no-permission since it's my roof, my rules) :P

It took 4.5yrs. of gripping to my Husband and having Molly come home to get the garage cleaned out for her to sleep in. Our 01 Durango never fit in the garage before, it was to cluttered, now things are a bit more organized and Molly is very happy!!

You're in good company here. Bernard is happily ensconced in our carport. When not hooked to a horse trailer, our giant dually shares the space, otherwise it's the Tahoe or our old truck, BUT the Bernard has first dibs on a space!

Our carport is open on two sides and solid on the other two. We built this house 23 years ago and NEVER before have I wished for a real "hermetically" sealed garage.... but now I do..... and all because of a little blue car.

I'm jealous. The best my baby gets is a car-cover. And in regards to other's comments on being overly fastidious about MINI-care, one of my friends recently said that if I cleaned my car any more than I do I'd probably rub the paint off. I don't really care if they understand, I took it as a compliment. It's not as if they don't have their obsessions and I don't judge how "healthy" theirs is.

One of the stores that I work with was closing so I bought a few of the display cabinets they had for a great price. I spent yesterday cleaning out the garage and now have one nice big cabinet for all of my detailing stuff hanging on the wall with lights and clear front doors. I love a clean garage

My wife understands. The minute we ordered the MINI she suggested that our weekly habit of rotating occupancy of our one-car garage between "my" car and "her" CRV would end, and the MINI would live there every night. Her only request was that once a quarter, when she has an ungodly early meeting, could she please take the MINI that one day so that she could get into a warm dry car with heated seats, etc. She's awesome. So's my wife.
