Zymol vs. Meguiar's

I've tried several different waxes through the years but I've been using Meguiar's Gold Class for a few years now (on a dark silver Jetta and a PW MCS). I've been pretty happy with the shine/durability from Meguiar's and when I have the energy I let it cure overnight and then top it with a Carnuba paste (like Mother's). Looks amazing especially on dark paint.

Anyway, I was thinking about trying Zymol. I mean the $15-20 one from Autozone -- not the $7,580.00 Royale Glaze. Both cars are almost always garaged but I'm looking for something for daily drivers.

Any thoughts on the difference between Zymol and Meguiar's?

I don't know anything about Prima products. I'm listening, though.

My dad swears by Liquid Glass. There's not too many reviews on it on the interwebs though.

Prima Epic would be my first choice but if you want stuff you can get at the store get Megs NXT. Almost as good a Epic.

How does Prima (Epic) compare to Zymol or Meguiar's?

The cheap Zymol stuff at Autozone is garbage.

The good stuff is a bit more money and I think it's worth it, I like really deep look that a high carnuba content wax can give on dark colored car.

Prima is a synthetic and I don't like the look as much. This is a personal thing, others like the synthetic look more. Best to try a few items and see what works best for you in both ease of use along with quality and longevity of finish.

I really like the deep gloss from carnuba waxes but I simply don't have the time to wax two cars every month. I think Mequiar's gives a pretty deep finish for a synthetic. Is there any other waxes out there that leave a deep finish and are also fairly durable?

I've only used store bought waxes, as I've never really had the cash to buy online goodies before this job, and I've been using Meguiar's NXT, and Mothers Clay Bar for all four years of my driving life (I'm only 20 )

The NXT leaves an amazing finish on my old black '92 Protege, and I recently did my wife's mother's 2007 Mercedes ML350 (also black). The finish on the brand new paint was amazing. You'll get a lot of comments like, "Wow, that looks five times better than when I bought it!" It really does look good for $12.00

When I order my MINI in a few weeks (test drive on Saturday), I'll try out a few more products. I love to detail vehicles, inside and out, and I can't wait to get my hands on some new toys!

You should really be asking ZAINO or PRIMA! I have had both (2 of the top 3 waxes ever made ) and I would buy a ZAINO kit with all the waxes. Go to http://www.zainostore.com/ and you will find the Zaino products. You will never find something like this at Autozone for sure. It is above perfection and it lasts soooooooo looooooonnnnnggggggggggg !

I have used many different product lines over the years, Meguiar's, both the Gold Class and NXT, Zaino, which is very good stuff, and now the Prima line of products. I find Zaino and Prima to be very similar in looks and protection, but the Prima line has some amazing polishes, Cut, Swirl, and Amigo, that are applied before the final wax. I have mixed and matched products in the past, but I find the Prima line works better as a "System" and getting it all from one place, Detailers Paradise, or ShowCar Detailing, makes things easier.

Prima has a new product that is coming out, that is a blend of synthetic and carnuba wax. Read about it here, to find out more about it. I plan on using it over their Epic, for the look on our 2 BRGs.

I used Zymol (the real stuff) for a while found it difficult to apply and remove. It is also Carnuba based wax and it didn't last as long as the synthetic (Zaino, Prima) products.

Make sure you get the paste version from Zymol and not the cheap stuff they sell commercially to retailers like Walmart. You can even use it on the black plastic without residue.... Very good product.
