Define "aging marks"?

My windshield has about a zillion little pits in it from being sandblasted while driving... All windshields seem to do this, but the MINI's is particularly bad in my experience... I'm hoping one of my little cracks finally grows so I can get a new one... that's the only fix I know of...

Mine too. A claybar is about the best thing I've found so far

Not much you can do about those tiny little pits.

But to clean it, I concur with the clay bar.

Then stay away from the windex. Do yourself a huge favor and invest a little bit of money into some Prima Clarity and a microfiber glass cloth. You can find both of those things here:

Bon-Ami is a powderey abrasive cleaner. Not what you want!!!

Save your expensive clay bar for the paint!

Almost any appliance store sells Glass Cooktop polish. I use the stuff for Kitchenaid and Kenmore.

Nothing in my 40+ years of detailing works better for outside glass. This is a true polish so keep it off your painted surfaces. A little goes a long way.

I have helped many a MINI owner polish out what they considered un-removeable blemishes .... especially on the roof glass.

Stoner's Invisible Glass for the inside glass.

Rain-X also makes a glass polish that does a good job.

+1 on RainX. it's by far one of the best cleaners out there for really
oily/greasy unmaintained windows. i wouldnt use it on the inside but
on the outside it does very well to remove stains.

I just took an old piece of clay that was pretty dirty and used it on the windsheild. It worked well and left no extra scratches. Of course, it does nothing for the pitting though. Maybe you just need to start driving closely behind every dump truck you see on the road.

Sunlight is one of the best lighting methods. I prefer to use it myself.

I am probably piping in on this late, and I disagree with the argument against Bon Ami. I have always used Bon Ami to clean auto glass that has the wiper marks, haze and other things. It will NOT scratch the glass at all, and will polish out all the 'aging' marks in the glass.

The web site lists it for use on crystal and exterior glass, so... http://www.bonami.com/

Just make sure that you give the car a GOOD rinse when you are done to make sure that all of the Bon Ami is off the glass/paint, etc....it will leave a white haze/powder when it dries if there is any left behind.

Blimey, not that you would want to, but I've see people that have windshields with small cracks, splits in them, take their thumb or the handle of a screw driver and push on the crack. If it is a crack, the pressure will run it longer, everytime they pushed on the crack at it's end, the crack ran out longer. I don't know why they were doing it?

Yeah, I've seen people do stuff like that too... no idea why...

It's about that time...

Actually, I have a buddy who just punches the inside of the windshield at the chip/crack, and that does the trick, too...
