Automatic Car Wash
i just went to eddiezs this afternoon, best auto carwash around, got the underbody flush to get rid of all the nasty minnesota winter salt on the roads that sticks to the MINI. so it looks great, and nothing wrong at all. dried out the door sills and the engine bay from any access suds and water. looks great ; ) ive been wanting a wash for a couple months! i hope spring time weather comes SOON! heh
Ahhh yes, the Car Duster. I'm sure you've seen it on info-mercials...maybe. It's basically a dust mop on the end of a plastic handle. Apparently the cotton mop fabric is coated with a parafin-wax-like substance that attracts dust. Really, it does! I bought mine at the biggest "Big Box Store" of them all...the one from Arkansas...I do not want to give them free advertising!! Anyway, follow the directions for the first use. I've seen car owners at shows using them on street rods that mucho dinero had been spent. It picks up the dust and makes it all shiny again WITHOUT rubbing the little dust particles all over the clearcoat. By the way, at those shows, my car gets nearly as much attention as the contestants. Suck on that, Gas-Hawgs!!!!
OK - so we're always bombarded with our share of snow and cold here in Western Pennsylvania. I typically try to get the cars to a pressure washer or touchless type of car wash a couple of times each month.
The vehicles have a good coat of wax and I do "dry" them. I've been going through a bunch of microfiber each time and using either a Meg's QD or Hydro. I'm trying to avoid dry sanding the finish, because I know there's still a lot of dirt left. This combo sure looks like it's giving me enough lube to get the dirt off without swirling. Seems that the trick is to go very lightly, keep turning the cloth until there aren't any clean spots left, and then move on to a fresh cloth.
Peace !
