use PC to apply and/or remove Epic?
Hi,
I haven't bought a PC yet for my new Mini, and don't think I need to de-swirl already. But I do want to get a coat of Epic on soon for protection. I was thinking of picking up OctaneGuy's new car bundle. Seems like I read somewhere here that folks also use a PC to apply/remove Epic? Is it a big time & labor saver for just that? If so, I might go ahead and get one now (along with the PC DVD, so I can learn how to use it).
I'm hoping Epic is easier than Zaino, which I tried a couple of times. I did get good results with Zaino, but it was exhausting (after the pre-wash, claying, post-claying wash, ...). It seems like the 'use barely any' advice applies to Epic too. I recall finding it tedious with Zaino to determine if I was actually putting anything on the paint, yet not err on the side of putting on too much. Seemed like no matter how hard I tried, I always had to mix up more Zaino than the instructions said I should need.
Thanks for any advice,
Pasta

Well I'm sure others will post here very soon, but I found Epic extremely easy to apply by hand on both my motorcycle and my girl friends XTerra. You don't need a whole lot to cover the car. I found a little goes a long way.
In 30 minutes it dries to a haze and it was pretty easy to remove with a microfiber cloth. Actually considering the prep work ahead of that (wash, clay, polish ... ) the waxing was by far the easiest part of the process.

you have to be very careful not to use too much on your app. you can use
your pc or do it by hand, but just do a super thin coat. it appears invisible
until 2-3min later the haze starts showing up...but it's on there.

i timed myself during my last epic app on the civic. civic is SUPER EASY
to apply cause the panels are relatively flat, almost no trims to worry
about getting white.
17min for the entire car with a RO, before, it was 25min by hand.
so there was significant difference for me cause who the hell wants
to spend time waxing a civic...

I use the PC buffer to apply AND remove the Epic.
Application because it helps ensure 100% coverage and a thinner coat...I tend to put it on a little too heavy by hand.
Removal with the microfiber bonnet on the pad. Speeds up the process but it doesn't do 100 percent removal. I just go after the remaining Epic with the Monster Fluffy and presto... done in a total of about 15 minutes.

Sorry for the delay on my PM, like what people have said--Epic is easy to apply on the MINI. Using the PC to apply it makes it faster and more thorough, and helps you put on a consistently thin even coating over the entire MINI, whereas by hand, you might have heavier and lighter spots.
Although I sometimes remove Epic by machine, I mostly remove Epic these days by hand, using my favorite Starfish Mitts. Two or three of them and I get to literally massage my paint feeling how smooth it is after all the hours I just put into it!
Use a PC with my OneGrip and I don't think there is a faster way of applying a thin even layer of Epic.

but pull out your 3 MINI's and i think you win with a huge margin.
pull out your "G" and YOU win !!
If you saw the 3 MINIs right now, you would declare yourself the Champ. I had all three of them spotless on Sunday. Yesterday and today, it rained.
I would have washed them in the dark tonight, but there's a good chance of rain the next two days, too. So... YOU WIN, Krazy Ken.

i thought i was the only one that did that!
Yeah I remove by hand too. I applied it by PC for the first time last weekend and it was nice. Took a little less time and a LOT less Epic, but the PC and my bad elbow do not play nice so I removed by hand. It comes off so easily as long as you don't use too much that it's not a big deal at all. I just used a Monster Fluffy and it all came off effortlessly.
AND I began my taping rebellion. I slathered leftover cheap-o dressing on all the black bits before I polished and waxed, and Black Wow'ed after and nooooooo stains, and I had Swirl and Epic evvverywhere (I was kinda nervous, actually). Taping takes me forever, and I hate it. I'm glad it worked - no more taping ever again!
