Prima question

Do any of the Prima products leave residue on the black trim of the Mini? Also, how does the Epic compare to Griot's sealant for durability?

I have found the info on this site great. Thanks for any input.

Epic does leave behind a white residue if accidentally applied on black
plastics and seals. you can prevent this by using tape or pre-applying
dressing..such as octaneguy's BlackWow.

from the readings, the Griot's sealant lasts longer than Epic, but
the appearance is more like a super shiny Zaino app...

griot's is quite nice.

it's cheap too, easy to apply like epic.

I wouldnt consider it for depth though. It is not terrible for depth, but epic rivals natural wax under certain lighting conditions. I think epic is a good choice overall.

Griot's lasts a long time. if i was going for long time though, I would use klasse all in one and use 1-2 layers of sealant glaze on it. that would be cooler/stronger even.

Griot's sealant does not last longer than 6-7 months. I have used it with care, but in harsh stupid **** place like ny ny where f'ing morons use salt for 1/6 of an inch of dusty snow, it does not last its theoretical year.

mild climate? garaged? Probably last way over a year.

Epic doesnt stain your trim, it wipes off without effort. I dont know why people complain about it in the slightest. they apparently never used carnauba pastes like I used to.

^^ funny you should mention that cause BestofShow wipes off without
any residue yet Epic turns trims white. (exactly opposite of wat you're
saying).

perhaps you're lying to US all along?

I've had problems with polish, but not Epic. Wipes right off with no staining.
BW is the cure for white marks on the trim though.

We were puzzled by the fact that some synthetic waxes seemed to stain some trim but not other trim (Epic, as well as others we were testing).

So, we asked our chemists about this. They think that the plastic trim on cars actually varies just a small tad... based on whatever price was available for the sub-components of the material that month, or some other decision factor. None of the slight component variations is obvious to anyone- the manufacturers make sure they all appear to be the same. And overall, they are the same... what I mean is a variation such as "Chemical XX, batch #3812" vs "Chemical XX, batch #74823", etc. THUS, this may be the variations we see in staining... and perhaps why Kenchan gets staining and others do not. It's just their theory, but it sounds possible to me.

As others have said, if you pre-treat your trim with a dressing (any variety will do) then it is almost never a problem. Also, as El Jefe mentioned, even the most evil synthetic staining isn't as bad as the old-school carnauba paste staining!

Note that if you do get Epic on your trim, just wipe it off with a damp cloth. It should come right off (unless you have batch #8794875 of the sub-component material in your trim... like kenchan! ).

Maybe do a quick damp cloth wipe all over the major trim areas right after application just to be safe? You pre-treat with a dressing/protectant too, right? I'm sure you do! Does it happen with all of your autos?

I've had issues on previous car trims with inadvertent Griot's BOS and sealant swipes. However, both wiped right off my PW's trim???
Most here seem to like Prima. Guess I'll order some prods and give 'em a try.

if you use Octane guy's Wow on your trim, it really repels anything, especially wussy synthetic stuff.

still, it's easy to wipe off/never had a problem

yep, Best Of Show wipes off clean. no issues with trims whitening.

same deal when i was doing the Civic last year. i know i got some
on the black plate frame holder, but it came off no issue. Epic was
a different story, but again, i'll use BW and im sure it will come off
with no issue. i shall do it today... sigh.
