Bumper Sticker Options

I am looking to put a bumper sticker on my MINI. I staunch oponent of bumper stickers however this one deserves a place. Now my dilema. I will not "stick" the sticker on, howerver I will put it on.

In the past, I placed a sticker on a magnetic sheet and placed it on a bumper of an explorer. Unfortunately, moisture created a rust problem and ultimately (after a year) the magnet adhered to the bumper and had to be literally ripped off.

On to the MINI. Are there any solutions for bumper sticker placement that will allow for ease of removal without damage to paint? I am considering the plastic "cling" sheets and/or placing on a window.

Window placement is the easiest in my opinion. When the sticker fades you just peel and replace.

i agree. window placement would the the easiest to replace and safest for the car.
if you need to take off the sticker peel and use a razor blade. easy and pie.
curious tho. is it a funny bumper sticker? sharing is caring.

Just check your local Motor vehicle department laws first. Here in Maryland your not allowed to put on anything that blocks any part of the rear window of a car. Though it's done all the time by drivers in this state, a cop having a bad day might add that to a list of offenses.

The sticker is political and will hopefully be on until November 2008. "Ron Paul 2008"

I would never hang a political sticker on my car. I don't want to give any one a reason to cut me off or key my car since politics is already a charged subject I'll leave my opinions in that realm to the voting booth.

I know this is resurrecting an ancient thread but does the bumper sticker interfere with the rear window wiper, or vice versa?

Depends on the size. There is quite a bit of room on the rear window that is not touched by the rear wiper.

There is a great tutorial on you tube for removing stickers from cars. I used the directions to take the dealer plastic letters off my Mini! Why would anyone do that to a Mini?? Anyway it's wash the car good so there is no little sand or anything that will scratch your paint take boiling water and pour it over the decal then use dental floss to remove the letters and a goo gone type product to remove the sticky residue... even though I know how to take them off I will still put my Tardis sticker on my window (bigger on the inside ) ... I worry about if the paint ever faded it would leave a permanat spot on my car. My hubbys Toyota had a magnet on his and the car paint faded but not where the magnent was ...

I don't know if I'd use boiling water. Sometimes heating things up too quickly can cause issues, same with cooling them down. You don't want to go messing up your paint or clear coat. Instead, pull out the hair drying and slowly heat up the letters. Then use that dental floss to remove, and goo gone to get rid of the residue.
