Melissa just left the shop. Here are a few pix of proof that she was actually here and the car looked awesome! I say that because she's probably going to hit some rain on the way home, lol.

Aww I bet!! Hang in there! It will all be worthwhile!! LOL.
Nice job, OG!
You know it's funny, I had some hail damage on the roof of my '03 once upon a time and the insurance-approved estimator at a local shop estimated repairs at like $800. I wound up taking it to a local PDR master who happened to own (and know) MINIs...a rare and welcome thing in early '03. Anyway, he did the job (beautifully) for like $350!!! And he was the best!! Amazing how a master can be so reasonable and a lesser shop so much more.

Thanks! Well, I didn't do the work, I just facilitated it and managed it and did the easy finishing work.
re: Pricing
Yeah, well it's the guys who've done it before (with the experience) and know what it costs that can estimate the job correctly! But definitely agree!

Yeah now you got me REALLY confused.
I think kenchan needs to change the channel. He does not appear to be watching the same show we are.
Clara looks good. Now MLW, you know what needs to be done. It will be hard, but I am sure you are up to the task. I am sure it served you well, but its time has come. The wood chipper MUST BE PUT DOWN!

I second that.

Find someone with a trebuchet and get a video of it being launched to oblivion. That would rock... (no, I'm not going to pay for a new chipper...)

i'd like to hear from ML.
i think she's busy washing her car? don't wax over that fresh paint!
which brings up my question... is it safe to Hydro over fresh paint?
I would think 'yes' but not sure...
OG, do you know?

No, don't use Hydro. You don't want to use ANY sealent/wax on new paint. If Hydro offers protection as it's supposed to, it won't let the paint breathe either.

Okay I am so late to this thread and I feel bad! After driving home from LA in the rain the ENTIRE way, I got home at 1am and then had to get up at 5:30 to be in Ukiah for football, and got home last night at 10 and went straight to bed. Exhausted!
So first, I owe the hugest thanks to Richard. I was so stressed about the whole thing but I knew having him involved in the process would mean the finished product would be flawless, and I was right. The paint looks perfect and you can't tell there was ever a scratch or dent there. I was talking with some of the guys in the shop and one asked me why I came so far for the repair...and I told him that it was because Richard was there, and I knew it would come out perfect.
Also, Richard taught me some great tricks and I used them this morning when I washed two days of freeway rain sludge off of Clara. The dirt was so bad that two of my coworkers wrote their names on the boot in the muck yesterday (and then apologized when I freaked out about it, ha). I took off the wheels to rotate and then realized there was a nail in one (yeesh), so I have my 5-stars back on temporarily.
Everyone who was involved was top-notch and it shows in the work. I'm so grateful to everyone!!
Richard, keep your eyes open for UPS
There's something coming for you, Steve, and Thomas. And now I know how much you love getting packages!
I was so happy to have my MINI back that I've waved at every MINI I've seen, including Dr. Obnxs, except I don't think he was actually driving it (it was dark, and hard to tell, but it looked like someone else was driving).

So sorry for the delay. Been having a busy week! I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the little time that I had with Melissa. You're a great customer, friend, and MINIac! Clara on the other hand---oooh boy, we practically slept together every night! Well ok, maybe not...but she sure was fun to have around too.
Hope I didn't scare you too much on the way to the airport and back--Mel commented to me that she drives like a "grandma" compared to me....
Thanks for being such a good sport and letting me wash Clara before your drive home even though I figured she would get dirty again, but I really wanted to show you the magic wheel stuff, lol.
re: UPS
Oh wowwwyyy! I can't wait! I don't know what that could be, but thanks in advance!
I will forward the kind note to the rest of the gang here and thanks again for giving me the chance to earn your business!
Thanks!!
Richard

Sorry to disappoint, naw it's just my favorite wheel cleaner--Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. I sprayed it on her wheels, and rinsed it off and about 90% of the caked on brake dust came off. Spritzed it once more, and the rest came off. Just required a quick wipe with my wheel mitt. Melissa told me that she would spend 30 minutes cleaning her wheels and it was messy--something that took me just a few minutes for all 4. Course, I can tell everyone how great this is, as I've done for years, but seeing it in action brings it all home.

Yeah, I seriously felt like an ***. My wheels were all filthy, and Richard's all *spritz spritz spritz* on each wheel and then walked around and hosed them off...clean.
I was like "Mannnnn I spend a lot of time doing that!" Hahaha...
So I came home the proud owner of a new gallon of Wheel Brightener. It's like a miracle!
