DC Retro Minis

Classicfreq, shouldn't your title under you NAM name be like "Pres, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Member Liasion, Event Coordinator, Coordinator :: DC Retro Minis"?
Actually, your "MINIs" is wrong, it should be "Minis"

Not his fault, he didn't set it (neither did I, actually), but I have fixed it. Also, the "extra" titles are also set by Administrators like myself, so unless classicfreq requests something different, Coordinator will remain.
In any case... while it's always nice to see additional interest in classic Minis, including a new club for them, I would like to remind all classic owners that DC Metro MINIs is and has always been very happy and supportive of all classic Minis as well. We don't discriminate against classics, in fact we cherish and celebrate them, and we do have a few members that own classics... some even own both a modern AND a classic!
I certainly hope that moving forward, DCRM can work in tandem with DCMM.

Edge.. well put. I sincerely think that DCMM is THE best MINI/Mini club that I've been involved with (atleast from the outside looking in). And although we do know that Minis are welcome in DCMM, it was important for myself and others to create an active Mini exclusive group.
With all honesty, the club's name was created by one of our other members (and founder) and he had absolutely NO knowledge of DCMM (if you can believe it!! haha). But, when he and others were throwing around other names, I thought it would be great as a play-on from DCMM.
Great pics Maxi, as usual. Good to see you and Marina and a few others recognizable from the Murky get together =D
It would be great to run into you guys again in the future. Perhaps when we get our membership up, we'll have to PLAN to run into you guys (not run into as in car accidents =P).
Thanks for the support!

Capitol Mini Register to be exact. And yes =D
I think our goals are much different. I am a part of that club also so don't get me wrong, love the club, the cars, and the people. However, the communication in that club is nonexistent. We are trying to build a club with a DCMM mindset: Communication and engaged members = Fun.
I have been to a couple of CMR meets and they are EXTREMELY educational. Finding out about this rust spot here or that I need to replace that is great! But what a few of us are looking for is spirited classic driving on a regular basis!
I tried setting up a website for them and it was never spoken of. I have hit upon the communication issues with them but it's been sluffed off.
I am a member of that club but am looking for a different direction =D
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to explain that route too!

Oh cool. Sounds like a very good plan. I had no idea of their existence until I went to the Britain on the Green event...and was suprised how come there wasn't more interaction between our two clubs.

This is cool. I have actually been considering a restored or *new* classic Mini. I know the factory has a few to sell, as did the guys at CooperWorks in the UK. And I have seen at least one 21st century classic Mini here in DC. my thought is they make great scooting around Old Town cars, and an excellent alternative to a Smart.

DCRM vs Capital Mini Register?
Soooo... what's the difference between DC Retro Minis and the Capital Mini Register? Is DCRM an actual club with fees? I kinda have some contacts at the CMR, but I don't know which group to join...
#20
We don't have any fees.. we are just a group of guys who really enjoy driving our Minis. Some of us are also CMR members but have absolutely no idea when/where/what the next even will be. Our next cruise is this Sunday so if you want to drive some of the back roads of southern PG county maryland and south of there stay tuned for a new post tomorrow. I'll be getting with DCMM to see if they have any routes but we did a prelim drive last weekend and it was great! Hope to have you with us!
By the way, CMR has lots of good people with great knowledge. If anything, join to know what's wrong with your car and how to fix it =D

i was wondering what DC retro Minis was. well now i know since clicked into here. Cool!
after getting a ride in a 2001 Mini 1275, i've decided that i want to get one. of course i can't do that anytime soon. But some time in the near and not so distant future.
