It was interesting that they only planned for 300 spots. That's how many we had last year (I believe we actually had a hair over 300).

It is probably a simple problem of space...over not wanting to expand it.

There is a nice sit down restaraunt up at the Fontana Inn, and a 'grill' restaraunt adjacent to the rec center that saved my butt a few times when I was looking for dinner late... Other than that it's a LONG way to anything else.

Oh well I missed that in all the long reading of all the events. It's a shame that (probably) less than half the people attending will be able to go I wish there was a bigger venue.

Yup. Me thinks folks we're gonna need a huge banquet tent type setup someday. Kinda like Mini had at Lime Rock on MTTS.

I second that.. the restaurant at Fontana's was really good.. maybe a bit pricey for the location . I had a couple of bks and two or three dinners great steaks and decent wine selection... GREAT service..

did not care for the Robinsville's place .. but I am not used to pulled pork, greasy ribs and the heavy Southern cuisine - I guess.. but that restaurant is the only one nearby (15-20 miles??)

Bamatt, some of us didn't make the dinner either. I knew about the limit but hadn't commited because I'm not sure if my wife will go. $5 for the passenger is no big deal but a dinner to not be used is.

Two years ago I brought a Dollar Store bbq grill and a bag of charcoal. Cheap enough to be disposable. I'll probably do that again this year.

Don't forget that you can eat at the grill at the Crossroads of Time at Deal's Gap, too. And if you go down 28, toward Bryson City, there is a little cafe. There is a McDonald's and a Wendy's in Robbinsville, as well as Sweetwater BBQ and a few other places. If you have a cabin, you have a fully-equipped kitchen and can purchase supplies at the General Store at Fontana or go into Robbinsville to the Ingles supermarket, which has a great selection to serve the international visitors that journey there to visit the Dragon.

So, since it cost only $17.95/Dinner, you are selling them for $20? Am I correct in my calculations?

He's offering. Not selling. I can see this becoming a touchy subject.

Ok, I will re-phrase..... You are offering them for $20 even though it is/was available for $17.95?

Well I am offering to make a big ginormously huge pot of my delicioushesnessess chili for the Alabama Motoring Society in my cabin since we cannot fit into the welcome dinner. All Alabamians & any other out of state (USA-wide) shuneess are welcome (if you let me know ahead of time I will make enough chili for an army) but sry I have no door prizes

If anybody wants to dine with the welcome dinner left-outs please PM me & I will increase the size of the chili pot & make enough for a bowl o/soup for every leftout that wants to drop by the lonely cabin (seriously if you wanna come PM me & I will make it, if you dont then happy PB&J to you )

NO NO NO I want to buy @$20 each!!! So 2 for $40... Someone out of 300 is going to not be able to make it, so I'll take them off their hands.

Ah, ok. Just a misunderstanding.

The door prize could be cleaning the dishes.
