I'm shooting for Mar 17 at this point. But since it takes me all of 20 minutes to swap them back and forth, I may do it sooner. I get impatient too.

I'm planning on getting it done in early April. I want consistent warm temps first!

another couple of weeks I think. Murphy's law says you'll bring a snowstorm within 72hours of making the switch before the spring equinox.

I'm with ya Jay. The winter wheels have only been on for 2 weeks, and I want my Eagle F1s back already.
I'd wait til the end of this month...ya never know what early March can bring
Think of it this way, when you have the winter tires on, you're saving wear and tear on the fun tires.

I change mine every time the weather looks good for a few days ahead. Only takes about 20 minutes to flip 8 wheels around.

So, mine are coming off today as the forcast looks like warmer weather ahead. But they could go back on just as quickly.

ya good thing about the mini is that you can jack the front jack point and lift the whole side of the car at once. makes changing the tires go really really fast. The only part that takes me the longest is carrying the heavy as hell s-lites up from my basement.

Unless it's the Batmini! It won't fit over a standard jack anymore... I have to put it on ramps, and then jack it up.

You could roll your front wheels over a 2x4 piece of wood to raise the height under your car and fit a jack under that or

install TSX low profile Jack pucks.

Early April seems like a reasonable time to move from winter to summer tires.
Throw a party, celebrate the spring.

Costco has a nice Arcan jack with an ultra low liftpoint. 3.5 inches I think....I have one and it's cleared every car that's made it into my garage. Anything lower than that won't make it in the driveway

Ok, I just looked at the 10-day forecast and we are supposed to have snow showers with a high of 36 on Wed. :impatient Which means, no tire changie for MINI. I think I will just have to wait till the end of March for this.

Having lived for a time in DC and for a longer time on the Eastern Shore, I'm aware that Maryland and Santa Fe have about the same temperatures (diurnal temperatures excepted). I'm on in mid-november and off April 1. It isn't just the snow but the temperatures . . . winter performance tires do better than summer tires if the pavement is cold. If I had the studless snows or studded snows, I'd take them off earlier.

How much?

EDIT:
Unrelated CostCo note... FYI for CostCo members, CostCo just got rid of their unlimited return policy on electronics in the USA to curb abuse. People were bringing back computers, DVD players, TVs, or anything else that had been used for years, saying it didn't work anymore, and getting brand new ones with original reciepts. Click here for more info.

$129 for the aluminum Arcan. I've got a steel version I paid $85 for I think. If you didn't want the aluminum one, I could be talked out of my steel one

as for the return policy <whistles>

I usually wait for a good batch of "April Showers" to clean off all the salt off the roads, before I switch to my summer wheels. It is difficult to wait that long sometimes, but it is probably best...
