What Is Your Hobby?
I'm thinking about go to the shooting range for practicing sometimes next week (evening on either Tue, Wed or Thu), at On Target Shooting Range, Severn, Md.
I'm wondering if anyone would be interested to join?

I used to shoot handguns a lot, PPC, IPSC, and IDPA. Now it's mostly sporting clays, 5-stand, and skeet. Also fish, hunt, kayak, bike, and hit the weight room 3 times a week. I do lots of reading and attend many of the sporting events at the local colleges, especially volleyball. It's good I'm retired or I would never have time for all this.

I flew radio controlled model helicopters for years and although I have been out of it for a couple years, I still consider it my hobby. I may get back into it soon.
This was my favorite. It's a Bell Long Ranger. It had a 60 size motor with a pipe. Really smooth flying. Did gentle aerobatics with it such as loops and rolls. I put windshield wipers, antennas, etc., on after this photo was taken.
All my models ran on methanol and 30% nitromethane fuel.
Both the Ranger and the second model were about 5' long from nose to tail.

This was the last one I had. Still a 60 size motor. This one was made for what is called 3D aerobatics.

This is a shot of the mechanics.

It was a lot of fun (unless they crashed).

I like to backpack. I have racked up a few miles on the Appalachian Trail, and various trails in the North Carolina, and South Carolina mountains. I was able to hike with a contingent from our troop at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, NM. I also like to snow ski. My ultimate ski trip to date was a week long ski trip in Austria. I am soon to take up mountain biking.
Woohoo, had a chance to go out to the practice range today, after over a year.
I had Soooooo much fun. Didn't want to stop but my hand was starting to sore.
Thanks to Wolf617 for coming out and for you kind letting me try the classic WWI Luger P-08 . Sweet piece indeed.

I don't have experience with shotguns. Other than shooting once or twice when I was really young, I only regulary practice target with the handguns.
Shooting clays was much more fun than I thought. Good things, I was able to hit couple of flying clays.
I'd love to go again, hmm........how does this Friday sound, Bill?
I'd like to say, try it and you will love it.
For ones who would like to know the sports and newbies (like me), there is an introductory group lesson at Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center
Introductory group lessons ($35
) start with gun safety. Then it's on to the anatomy of the weapon and the rules of the game. In short order, adjust the gun against your shoulder and cheekbone, shift your focus to the target and shoot at its leading edge. After a practice round with an unloaded gun -- including a helpful "bang" sound effect -- you can aim and fire for real.

Their certified instructor are said to be one of the best in the area.
I'm thinking about doing the lesson on Tuesday, Aug 26th @ 7pm. Please let me know if anyone's interested. It would be fun if we could have 7 or 8 together.

The club house and pro shop.

Awesome, we'll get together at around 1 pm on Friday, Aug 15th., location will be at Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center.
I've just taken up Trikking,
and have become addicted to getting in as much time as possible with it.
As family activities we spend our weekends jet skiing or quadding,
depending on the time of year. We do many camping trips through the year with both. My son just took and passed his United States Coast Guard Safe Boating Course today so that he can start driving my jet ski, legally. In Virginia, with the safety course, he can drive alone at 14. He's been on the ski with me since he was 3 or 4. He actually drives it safer than 90% of everyone we've encountered in our area.
He's been on his own quad with us for many years now and we just moved him up to the 250 about a year ago. Yes,
it sounds like he's spoiled rotten. But, he's not playing with his friends most of the time, he's actually still playing with MoM and DaD.
In my eyes, that's kept my kid on a straight and o so honest path in life thus far.
Although I must admit, I'm getting older and this isn't as easy as it use to be a few years ago.
We also have the family outfitted in various RC toys such as the Clod Buster, which I currently claim with an awesome Grave Digger set up installed on it. I just run over the Hubby and Son's Traxxas Stampeedes' like they are field toys.
Of course they can somewhat do circles around me.
No Mini RC yet.
I also have my girly hobbies like beading. I have my very own little personal bead store set up in my formal dinning room.
I can create beautiful jewerly whenever the mood strikes me from the comfort of my own home.
I've also added lampworking to that bead addiction. No,
I don't
work lamps!
Lampworking is the process of taking glass rods and melting them with a torch using an oxygen and propane mix. The glass rods are melted onto a twelve inch stainless steel welding rod coated with a dried mud like material that makes it easier to remove the glass from the rod. You melt the glass onto the welding rod using various techniques to form a glass bead. This set up is in the garage next to the other hobby, the Hubby's GT500.
Last, but not
least, is doing activities that surround owning a Mini.

We're planning on doing the group lesson on the 26th.
We'll just be playing around on Friday.(I think someone is just looking for an excuse to rent that Beretta 391
)
Come on down. I'll bring extra guns. Or it'll give you a reason to pull the 1100 out of the safe.

Man I would love to join you guys but this week is a little crazy. I started shooting sporting clays with some events thru work and I am hooked
After my first 2 events last years, I bought a Remington brand Spartan SPR310 which is a over/under 12 gauge shotgun. It is make in Russia by Baikel Gunworks and for the price is a decent shotgun.
Another good place to shoot is the Bull Run Shooting Center near Chantilly VA.
Here is the linky if interested in checking it out.

Hopefully I can join you all in the future.
See ya, Brian

I'm thinking about getting Beretta AL391 or Benelli Montefeltro, and will try them this week at the range.
Hopefully I can make a decision right after.
We're also thinking about having the outing once a month (if we have enough interested), may be on 4th Tuesday or Wednesday of the months and alternate location between PG T&S and Bull Run.
Are you interested in joining the class on Aug 26th? I hope you can. It would be fun if we have 6 or 7 of us joining. Right now we have 4.
Let me know what you think.
WARNING!!!!
I went to Prince George's Trap and Skeet Center with Maxicooper today.
Chris has contracted a life-altering strain of Skeet Fever!
Please, please, please, do not mention the words Beretta or Benelli within earshot of Chris!
He has developed a Pavlov dog-ish salivatory reflex and he has Looney Tunes-ish stars spin around his head at the mention of said keywords.
He has developed a Pavlov dog-ish salivatory reflex and he has Looney Tunes-ish stars spin around his head at the mention of said keywords.
All kidding aside, Chris is starting to get a feel for the game. After only 4 boxes of shells, he is starting to get a lot of hits and can recognize what is wrong when he misses a target.
If any of the reading audience have any interest at all in shotgun sports, please consider joining us when we go for the private class.
You'll have a blast!
I'm addicted to climbing (three-four times a week if my body is able). Just started to climb outside (Redwing and Taylors Falls). I never thought I would do it considering the risk -vs- reward, but it keeps me coming back for more. I dropped twenty pounds so I didn't have to haul it up the walls. Give it a try!!!!
