Exotics in the wild

Recently I've noticed a car in the parking lot at work that I couldn't quite figure out what it was. So today driving into work I get caught behind it at a traffic light and whip out the camera and get a picture of it. Specifically I was looking to get the logo on the back so I could try and narrow down what it was.

Well, I did that today a little after I got it. Turns out it's a Maybach. So apparently someone in the building has some serious money. Either that or some company has it for shuttling around some big whigs (which is more likely).

Gotta say though, it's a hideous looking car. The paint job is a two-toned between a dark green and a tan/beige. The windows have a pretty serious tint on them but I could make out some curtians/shade on the rear window glass which just looked dumb.

This is really an awsome car. You just saw the bad color. Imagine it in silver or plain black. But for the money Aston or Rolls.

I've seen 2 of them on the road here in Vegas. Both black. ENORMOUS cars! The 2nd one looked kinda like it was owner driven, the 1st one, most certainly not.

Maybach

built entirely to order inside and out - rather lengthy time with rep in configuring it just the way you want. Hmm wonder where they got that idea?

Do you work in Beltsville? The principal of one of my clients has a green/tan two-tone model 57S with a private driver. I can PM you who it is and what he does if it's the same. too bad he can't pay his bills with us on time

I chased a Lotus Elise home around the beltway one day. And surprizingly, I wans't having too hard of a time keeping him close. Although he was probably just on a lesuirly drive while I was feeling like I was freaking out to wave to him. (I wave to all nice cars)

The Maybach's are really impressive cars, i've been in a couple and i'm simply speachless on the comfort, power, and how utterly quiet it is inside.

I work in Greenbelt actually, I took this coming off 295 onto Greenbelt road right by Greenway Shopping Center. (I'm working out of the building with the big Lockheed Martin sign on the top).

Probably handles better than anything else that weighs 6300 lbs! But then most anything else that heavy is a SUV, or armored. Have you seen the back seats? They recline like a La-Z-boy.

While Maybachs are probably great to be driven around town in if you have a ton of money, I'd take the new Rolls Royce Phantom over a Maybach any day.

I actually saw a Maybach recently in NYC and I also saw one this summer while I was driving through Ohio. It had DC plates and it was in a convoy with a bunch of black SUVs. I thought it might be a government official by the look of the SUVs but I doubt anyone in the government would be riding in a Maybach. The plates on the SUVs were from VA, FL, and NC. I wonder who it was...

We had a Maybach when they first came out as our hotel car for several months. They gave us all the information about how you would order one too -- I think a few of our guests actually did. From what I understood, they are completely handmade. And when they need preventative maintenance, they send you a car to your house for you to use for the day and then pick up yours.

Sounds like something MINI needs to implement

Maybach Excelero

Our daughter has a degree in --- wait for it ---"Antique Automotive Restoration" --- anyway one of her co-graduates (Nate) was hired by MB for the new MB museum in California. Of late he's been entrusted with taking care of the MAYBACH EXCELERO which is an almost unbelievable car. I've heard them mention a ridiculous price tag on the car! My daughter and her friend recently spent a weekend together where he was driving the EXCELERO around for the filming of a video for "Jay Z" who ever he is. The video makes it look as though Jay Z was driving but most of the time it was Nate. Here's a link to the EXCELERO which my daughter will enthuse about at any and every opportunity!

You're right. It's alot cheaper to just swap badges on a Merc. (Of course, you'd still be missing the BBQ pit grille in the backseat area)

First exotic I ever saw in the wild was in Vegas at the old MGM Grand (now Ballys). Guy pulls up in a blue Countach. Lady gets out ... only luggage was a very small bag. Awesome.

I used to ride in Morgan three wheelers back when I was a kid. My neighbor was a famous collector apparently. Not sure if they qualify as 'exotic', but the the feeling was the same....."WTF is that?"

That was a merc insider joke...there is no Merc 700SEL the highest is the 600 S or the old SEL, it was in refer. to the SEL being longer and the 700 as being the fake upgrade for the 600(real). Two inside jokes that i thought Merc owners would know. And they do rebadge.
The BMW L7 is more rare then the maybach...do a google search...you might find one.

i remember the last time I was in miami for spring break. I saw 3 maybach's. two 57's and one 62. I probably saw about 10 Phantoms, a bunch of bentley's. 3 to 4 lamborghini's: gallardo's, murcielago's, diablos. 5 to 10 ferrari's. And others! all in one week!
