There's a food court on the corner of 13th and F. It's pretty quiet on weekend, so finding enough seats isn't a problem. Actually, there are a lot of places to eat...

Parking might be an issue? maybe, maybe not.. weekends aren't too crowded I guess. Especially in the off-season.

Edit: This brings me to a thought I'd had about events. I thought of the idea of us all meeting at a particular Metro Stop and then riding the metro into DC for food and activity. It seems a bit strange for a car club maybe....to "take the train", but, every so often on a weekend could be fun. We can all pack into the same car!

Perhaps call it "MINIs Meet the Metro"

Actually last year James and I for the NY guests put together a small/ fun run thru the streets of Washington DC. It went pretty well with about 8-10
MINIs including Paul!. We could try to do it again.

How about a dinner on the 28th of October at Marks? ;-)

I'd be up for a occasional foray into DC, including via Metro. It's a social club too. And even if we don't drive to the function we can TALK MINIs. Heck for that matter I still haven't been to the new Smithsonian Native American museum.

MINIs take the Smithsonian?

Nightime mall, monuments and memorials can be a fun drive. AND.... even though the trees celebrate a holiday that I don't, the Pagaent of Peace is very cool visually.

We could call the run "MINIs, Museums, and Metro Meet" or M4

I like the Metro idea. Most metro parking areas are free on the weekends.

Been meaning to visit that one since it opened!

I like the idea of a late-night monument drive! Marina mentioned when the NE MINIs come down, we did a drive through DC. The WW II monument was stunning! Plus, while we were slightly illegally stopped while we were snapping pictures, people were snapping pictures of us!

For DCMMers that know downtown DC, what time would be feasible to attempt a drive?

I would definitely be up for a drive through DC. It would be nice if we could include GW parkway, aka Prozac Parkway. Beautiful drive! Not as much traffic as 66 for those of us coming from VA.

LOVE the idea of an evening run by the mall and monuments.

I was at the Native American Museum last week and their cafe serves the best food of any of the museums. They have an awesome buffalo shank and fried bread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The actual museum was disappointing but I would definitely go for the food.

If you need help finding a location for us to dine I would be more than happy to help out. I run a couple of social groups in the area and know my way around pretty well.

I don't know about you all, but I would like to do the drive in DC during the spring, perhaps mid April before the kids get out of school and before the Dragon. It should be nice enough for the windows/tops down.

MINIS by Night..

I think that is what we called the run last year. Somewhere we should have the route but it was something like : Departure from M Street (to accomodate the NY group) , down to the Washington Monuments - people were actually turning an taking pictures of the MINIs instead of the monuments , down by Potomac passing the Kennedy Center and up to Rock Creek Park ( with a little twisty raod for about 2 miles) down again thru thru Hines Point and the Jeffesron memorial, DC Fish Market to Independence Ave passing thru the Castle and the momuments by the Mall up the the Hill passing the Capitol and Supreme Court buliding and ended up with dinner at Marty's in Capitol Hill.

About 1 and half hour for the all tour

That sounds awesome! Those of use coming from NoVA can do GW PKWY into Georgetown and we can meet up with the rest of the group on the waterfront street near the movie theaters. Lets do it!!!! Is November 11th too soon?

I like the idea of dinners, and like xcaligali said, some events closer to DC, too!

Ok, how about a dinner Nov. 18th? It is far enough from Thanksgiving. Once there is interest, I will start a new thread.

For the dinner interest. We can go ANYWHERE that can handle a group of people. I know there are a LOT of places to eat in the MD,VA,DC area, but of course don't know where to go! Looking for ideas!

Here are my 2 cents on this. I know there are ppl all over the MD/DC/VA area so maybe what needs to be done is break up the area into districts so we can rotate the districts for dinner like we do the dealerships for breakfast. Then we would probably need to figure out what the first district would be to eat at and then maybe what the food theme would be for that month, like Italian or sushi. But again, that’s just my 2 cents.

OK! So I need some help with this one here. Since we do most of our runs/breakfasts/meets in MD and VA, lets go to DC for our first dinner. We need a place that is able to handle at least 20 I would think that has parking for all of us, unless we all metro in. Which wouldn't be a bad idea either, since parking is free on the weekends at metro stations.
So, here it is, we are shooting for the 18th. We can go early to beat the dinner rush in DC, but with that many people, we will probably need reservations.... NEVER MIND that thought! But what I do need is a good suggestion for a place to eat!
Nothing to out there, something that a large group of people would enjoy that offers at least veggie/chicken/beef of some sort. Help please!!!
