rain = codes and no boost?

Rain does odd things to cars :impatient. Around 7:50 am this morning Mark's car (MDSbrain) sent out codes saying that it had misfired. The car was misfiring and sputtering but a full update will come later today from Mark himself.

Update: Car is on the tow truck (8:24 am)

Crazy morning. Got the car towed and brought to Tate. The car started and ran fine when it got there and there was zero stored codes.

I had told them the car seemed to run but had no boost. I looked down and I was doing 4k rpm and my boost gauge was flat with no power. The SES and DSC light then lit. So I pulled over it and it started to chug and sounded like it was misfiring.

Car was towed from the side of the highway near Columbia to Tate.
They said they would replace the bypass valve but then theres no code stored so they say nothing to fix. Oh well, so my car got a free ride to the dealer and a car wash. Now I just have to explain this to the boss why I missed work.

I hope Soulfire gets fixed up.

By any chance, Was the electricity inside the car flickering as well? Maybe even threatening to go into limp mode?

Nope, the car didn't even go into limp home mode. Just no boost and then the chugging symtop. I drove home and the car felt fine. oh well

Sorry to hear about all of the problems. I am starting to think that MINIs do not like rain. My MINI is not a primary vehicle for me so she stays inside alot. Come to think of it...she has never been driven in the rain.

Again sorry to hear about all of the little issues

Strange that the car has issues with rain and not carwashs.

No cot yet. Although I did check out the lot for another car, saw a nice M3 that was looking hot haha

Though I haven't experienced any problems with mine, this is one reason I prefer the closed style intakes such as factory, factory JCW, or Dinan. I especially don't like the intakes that require chopping out a huge bit of the back wall of the engine compartment. The ECU is right next to the intake box, any bit of water, even if its just spray or condensation could wreak havoc.

You do realize that the Dinan intake has a big hole in the back by the cowl to let in more air right? It's basically very similar to the JCW box except the hole is always open, not RPM activated.

It happened to me twice. I ordered a new bypass valve and problem is gone. Henry

I think MDS (and most of us modded types) have already had and resolved BPV issues.

Also, his Mini didn't go limp which is a known trait of the valve issue.

Sorry to hear about your woes Mark.
