I checked the Summit Point website for a real address so I can put it into my GPS but a real address (only PO box listed) is nowhere to be found...anyone have the address for this place?

I just joined DCMM and RSVP'd for the track day. This will be my first DCMM event and my first track day. I'm looking forward to both. Is anyone going out the night before in order to avoid the drive in the morning? Also, what the best attire for the day?

Plug in Summit Point, WV. That will get you close.
The town of Summit Point is not very big.
There will be signs directing you to Motorsports Park.

I don't know what the rules are but I would suggest long pants, long sleeve shirt and comfortable closed toe shoes. Sneakers will be fine. No flip flops!
Also bring something to cover your stuff or a container to store your gear.
Cars must be completely empty, usually including mats. I would remove the driver's side mat at the very least.

I am still up in the air if I want to drive out the night before. From what I am gathering from this thread most people are driving out that morning. Mapquest is telling me 82 miles from Fredericksburg.

There will be no traffic at that time. Just watch out for deer, especially on the local roads to Summit.

Thats a very good point....as they already have all the deer warning signs up where I work. So far in the past 2 weeks or so 6 have been hit.

Deer whistles would look really good on a MINI right?

One thought on shoes - I know when I wear docksiders or other shoes with a "lip", they can get hung up on each other, especially with the the quick braking/shifting, etc. I've only got a size 10 foot, but I still encounter this every now and then. Like he said - sneakers are good! Or those slip on shoes that look like sneakers (and have soles closely molded to the sides of the shoe).

I'm probably WAY over thinking this...

I have a pair of Puma Speedcats which are perfect for this sort of thing. Can't go wrong with a good driving shoe.

hi!

Hi everyone. I won't be driving on the track this weekend but i'll be stopping by to see everyone and hear how much fun you're having!
See you this weekend.
I noticed a question about directions, so here's the website for those that need more info...(i'm sure you're all well aware of this, but here it is anyway)

I had new shoes put on up at LDG garage today....this track day will put them to the test for sure.

John and I went for a spin in his "project" MINI...man that thing is a beast! Look for him and the beast at the track day as well.

I was thinking more of Sat than Sun. I am not sure when I will be there Sat.

Finally signed up!

Well, I finally did it - I signed up for Sunday.

If you're going to the free inspection tonight at MoS, I'll see you there!

BTW, a question - what do you do about car insurance? Are we covered by the track as part of our fee or do you need to get a one-day policy from somewhere?

John

This is considered as a driving school so your insurance company will have no issues with it. They may even like it very much because it should make you a safer driver!

It depends on your policy. Read the exclusions. Some say no timed, competitive events. That's fine for DEs. Some expressly say no track. Generally an insurance company will cover your first time claim, but don't expect it the 2nd.

It would be nice to think insurance companies gave you a discount for taking driving schools. They'd be owing me money.

Good point Steven.....I checked with mine (Ameriprise) several weeks ago and they simply said "have fun and we have you covered".

??? I'm all stressed-out about getting to SPR before 7am. I don't think I can make it out to MoS tonight and I need to get my inspection, too. My wife and I are staying in Inwood Sat night and making a weekend getaway out of it, but of course we have to figure out where to put all of our luggage while I'm participating in the track stuff.

Do we get any kind of certificate? GEICO gives me a 'safe driver' discount already, but I wonder if I can work out another one.

John is going to be up there to ride around the track with the instructors possibly when the track is completely open. JRGASTON are meeting up at 5:15 AM down here in Fredericksburg for the ride up. From down here its pretty much a straight shot riding 17 all the way. The FRS will be set to 7-21

No cert last year...

I'll be up to Sterling for the inspect tonight. But I think I'll leave work shortly and get up there before traffic gets messy. Might go to Wegmans for a bite. Will check here with the PDA and see if anybody else is up there pre 5 and wants to connect.

John is going to be showing up later. Those participating in the whole thing need to be there earlier.

As for all your stuff, the pit area is going to have a bunch of peoples stuff sitting in it. Your stuff should be fine too. I left a small pile of stuff there last year when I was doing the school, nothing was taken, no shaddy characters lingering around, nothing to worry about.
