Not true at all. Every insurance company has its own policy about this. You need to read what your policy says. Some explicitly do not allow ANY timed event or anything on a track (tracks are not where the car is supposed to be).

This is not something you want to find out after you have some damage to the car, yourself, or others.

YMMV

I wasn't worried about theft. To explain at risk of 'too much info': today is our tenth wedding anniversary. My wife gets some spa time tomorrow. I get some track time Sunday. Our 4 year old daughter gets to spend two days (and two nights!) at grandma and grandpa's house. I think my wife will want to bring hanging clothes for our fancy dinner Sunday evening at an inn nearby the track. I'm hoping we can make do with a garment bag.

I wasn't there last year..... Maybe I had better shave.

Not bringing the 710 on SSRs. There is enough meet on them for a autocross school next year so they will stay tucked away in the basement. I will have to make due with the street tires.
I look forward to seeing some folks. I think this is my first DCMM outing after stuffing the Dragon sacks this spring the day before everyone arrived. Leaving now to run out to Sterling.

...And I can't run. Car failed the inspection! I've got a leak in the oil cooler lines and a small coolant leak around the water pump. Not to mention a bent rim I didn't know about! Mike Arata heard and was right there to see if there was anything he could do, and was thinking out loud about somehow getting me in another car. He was really offering to go out of his way to get me in. I declined with thanks, I felt like I wanted to do this in MY car.

So I gave my spot to a last minute arrival and he'll get to run.

MOS did a most thorough inspection for which I'm grateful! I'm booked in to take car of the various bodily fluid issues Wed. Leaks aren't huge but it was not recommended to take on track.

NO, I'm not going to attempt a THIS in my counterfeit MINI Traveler prototype some of you saw at the Dragon.

If they do this again they really need to do the tech inspection a couple weeks before giving people enough time to correct any issues.

Unless something popped up that LDG did not catch...I should be good to go.

Do we have solid numbers as to how many people have signed up for the event?

I was thinking that, too. I know there will be at least a couple of non-drivers there with cameras.

thanks.

Sorry to hear about your bodily fluids, Mark. I really hope they find no surprises on my car. It's only three months old.

Gotta go now. This is "her day", so I have a lot of domestic tasks to complete. Tomorrow: "me day".

I'd be one of those people, since i don't have my Mini yet. Trying to practice my shots for the track, before my event with Ferrari of Washington in a few weeks. I'd also like to meet a few members since i'm new here.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Do you have more? I'd love to see if you have one of me - Black/Black MINI, with the S-Lite wheels, not the one with the black wheels.

As for today - all I can say is WOW! Who knew a MINI could do all that? Next time, I gotta get some sticky tires and BIG brakes.

Casualty list for the day (nothing serious):

2 Out of gas
2 Busted belts

Mike Arata, MINI of Sterling, all the instructors - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You guys rock and I appreciate how much you did for us today!

John

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hi everyone! I had so much fun today! I didn't drive my Tpot, but one of the instructors took me out for a thrill!! I was the girl walking around with the red sweater and black ponytail. I tooka bunch of pictures and will try to post them this week. I may just dump them all onto myspace or something everyone can look at.
I also really enjoyed watching the skid circle! What fun! I'd love to do THAT!.
HOpe to see you all soon. hello to all I met today. Sorry to those who had any casualties.

Sherwin has made it home ok. I got home around 10:30. I would not have made it home if it wasn't for Peter, Shanti, Matt, and Haemish. I also want to thank Katie and her husband for helping find help and pulling Sylvia up to the front gate. I made it back home with my Sylvia. These people went completely out of their way to help me. I am in forever in complete gratitude.

We left summit point about 9pm.

Thanks to all of the guys who organized this and put it together. This was a whole lotta fun. Thanks to all the instructors who came out to spend their time with us.

I have pics, but I will post them tomrrow.
