Thanks for the suggestion that's kind of what I was thinking, too.
Thanks for letting us tag along, I can't wait to all the MINIs in the line.

xcaligali, please add me to the list.

I'll be taking this route, but very likely (in fact) will skip the vineyard. Considering the possible weather situation in addition to normal DC traffic congestion, I don't want to take any chances of not getting back for the game. Can we seperate into the lists the people not going to the vineyard vs. those that are? Then the groups can say bad things about each other.... na, just kidding.

If we leave the OMNI at 9am we should be there by 10am. Realistically, it'll be more like 9.15-9.30 by the time we get the group together and headout. I'd suggest however that you get to the entrance of SNP for 10.00 just in case we're able to maintain a 9am start. See you there!

No need to make seperate lists. After we exit the park we'll have the opportunity to pull off and stop to regroup. At that point we'll identify "those who will and those who won't" be going to the vineyard and say our "far the wells." From there we'll all continue along 211 East until we pull off into the Vineyard at Amissville where we will wave at those heading straight for DC.

Sorry if I burst your bubble. I am just thinking with all the Minis, the normal DC traffic and the baseball game the traffic will be horrendous.

Look out for...

I just finished making up this pennant which will be on MINILLA when it's parked at the OMNI ---- always assuming of course that there will be room to park....so keep a look out for me....still planning to leave at 9am.

I am out of Wilmington NC and also do not have any club affiliation. I am picking up my co-pilot (mom) in Roanoke Friday and we will be driving up to C-ville early Sat. morning. We are hoping Ernesto will cooperate and we will be able to motor on the Skyline. This is our first MINI run and wanted to know if we could join in?

Just started doing this earlier this week. Two of us plan on the movie tomorrow and then up Skyline Drive on Saturday. We live in Louisa County and 9 certainly sounds better than 7 after Friday night. I've never gone all the way into DC on 66 (even tho I learned to drive in DC a while back and lived just off Dupont Circle in an earlier life) and I'm curious what bridge 66 takes you to. I haven't gone across M Street from Georgetown to P Street Beach in a long time and the thought strikes a nostalgic chord (if it doesn't mean a lot of back-tracking). My mental map tells me to go southeasterly from Dupont Circle and work my way onto what used to be the Southwest Freeway (or somesuch) and just keep going east past South Capitol and on a ways until a left-lane exit to the stadium (which dumps out on the opposite side from parking lot we're looking for). Can anyone with more recent experience tell me whether those routes are still open or whether they are now only a fond memory?

Lately I've felt like everything I've been saying has been "MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... MTTS... "

Don't forget to go through your everything-but-the-kitchen-sink checklist before you go, though! I spent all my time after work today cleaning Chance out and giving her a total boot-to-under-the-bonnet cleaning, and put my MTTS cling on my window, got my motoring ID on the MINI, and prepped my DCMM flag so it (hopefully!) won't fly away. I even saw this when I was at Michael's getting the stuff needed for my motoring ID and flag, I just HAD to buy it! Too bad I won't have time before leaving for MTTS to modify the model to look more like my Chance! Oh well.

My own husband thinks I'm crazy and I think he's just waiting for it to be over so I will stop talking about it, constantly!!!!

I'm staying at the Omni, too, and will be joining the drive. I'll look out for Minilla's flag. And I'm also going straight to DC. I bet if it's a rainy morning, we'll get a lot more takers since KD will be a bit soggy. Looking forward to meeting everyone. ASK JOE (VA)

Great! I'm arriving tonight. But I'm confused - are we leaving at 7:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m.? Either one works for me. I obviously don't know what plans MINIUSA has in theire departure packet, but if we left earlier, we could hit Luray Caverns near New Market on the way and still check into the arrivals desk with no pressure. Thoughts?

We will be leaving at 9am. Look out for the pennant. (There may be other groups leaving earlier and taking a different route to Skyline) The plans for this group are outlined on POST 29 in this thread. You'rewelcome to join us if you wish but we won't be visiting Luray caverns. Let's home the weather has improved by Saturday morning.
