I would like to have us go to Bengie's Drive in up in the Baltimore area sometime in August on a Saturday night. I am thinking Saturday becuase once upon a time we tried for a Friday night and many people bailed because of Friday traffic.

Does anyone know some good roads between say DC and Bengie's and we could maybe put a little run together on our way up?

Purpose of this thread - chat about it and get feedback before we pull the event together. Then we will make a new thread.

I love that drive-in! When my mini comes I'd love to join you guys . . . well when I can get off of work (I work many weekends). Movie theaters just can't compare!

I researched last year setting up a small run to Bengies similar to what I did with Families Drive In out by Winchester. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck finding relatively unpopulated twisties in the vicinity. All of the roads I could find had too much traffic, and none were really fun to drive on.

But! I really don't know the area over there too well at all, so it's entirely possible that I missed some fun roads. And even if anyone can't find fun roads, either the drive could be done somewhere else and then meet up, or skip the drive altogether and just meet for the movie.

In any case, have fun! See you all in about a month and a half!

This sounds awesome! Jonathan has actually raved that we need to go see a show up there - he grew up in the area, whereas I'm from Chicago - so I'll ask him if he knows of any fun roads up there. I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing a test run if we have the time!

This sounds awesome! The last time I went to a drive-in was about 20 years ago and it was down in Fl. The funny thing is I was read something just a few days ago and I came across Bengie's drive-in and thought that it would be kewl to take the wife there.

 

BUMP this up, maybe we could still get this going before it gets too cold?
