Maybe we could work out something with John over at LDG as far as space goes on a weekend. Maybe even have a little cook-out at the same time. I can give him a buzz if need be to discuss posssible options or his thoughts on the matter.

Just a quick question.

on the 2006, is the red light on the wiper stalk or the turn signal stalk?

Hemi-Mini. LDG would be fine location, also the possibility exists of him doing all of installs if he wants too and is cheap enough. Also I'm thinking about a pulley install so there could be other advantages...

ravana, My 05 doesn't have it but it is on the stalk that does not have the fluid indicator. That's why we need your VIN. Classic will tell you exactly what you need. Michael

Red alarm light is on the left stalk facing the drivers window.

Yeah, me too. Until I found out you could order it pretty cheap, and do most of the install yourself.

I just contacted LDG, and John is supposed to call me back. He was not there at the time. I told them about the situation, and they stated he would contact me before the end of the day. I'll see if it is feasible to have his crew install the alarms, and to pick an available installation time(s). Has anyone contacted Towson to see what the activation charge will be?

I won't be interested in having someone install, I'll do mine myself... Just so you can keep count for LDG etc...

I'd *like* to do the install myself as well.

It'd help with keeping the price down I think. Besides, I wanna be able to say I did some work on my car

LDG was having a pulley install special in which he still may honor but you have to work that out with him. I believe the price was $230 which included a Mini-Madness 15% pulley and install. The madness pulley is a nice quality piece...better than the WMS pulley IMHO. I wont share that snafu on the boards.

Just spoke with an LDG assistant. They stated that if we had factory alarm systems (he recomended Morristown) that he would install if for one hours pay ($100). We would still have to activate it at a dealership. For a group pulley install, the LDG assistant stated that John would get back with me later.

I spoke with Dwayne at Mini of Towson. he stated that he would have to speak with his Supervisor about the activation charge. It seems to me like they did not like the fact that the alarm(s) will not installed at their shop, and I'm getting the feeling that they may give me an outrageous activation price. I did ask them about potential discounts (NAM, and DCMM) for a potential group activation. If the price is unreasonable, I guess I will have to look elswhere. If anyone has luck elswhere with other dealerships, please let me know

Done, sent all info.

A public thanks for organizing this! We'll have to see if there's a price difference for the convertible one...

I considered moving it, at your request... but I didn't for two reasons:
  1. The start of the thread isn't really a "group buy" thing - it wouldn't make sense to those looking at it.
  2. The thread is location-specific - you're ideally trying to find DC-area buyers (or at least driving distance to DC) in order to do a group install, and possibly a group activation.
As Wagnbat suggested, a new thread would make more sense if you really want to put it in the Marketplace forum. At least it would resolve concern #1.

Last comment,

I contacted Mini of Towson and spoke with a service manager. He stated that Towson would charge at least 1/2 hour service charge (at least $52.50) to activate the alarm system. He also told me that to get a discount for DCMM, you must bring your membership card to get the discount. Good Luck everyone
