My condolences to you all. We just had another system leave us tonight in western Ohio and it is headed East. Hopefully, it will not add to your misery there.

Does anyone know how MINI Meet East will be affected this weekend? Is it still "on"?

I don't think it really gets called because of weather. I'll find out today though. I'm going to drive to Summit Point to watch the driving school/races, I figure I might as well stop by the hotel that everything is centered around too.

The soil thing seems to make alot of sense....I would not have guessed that DC was clay. But our water table is not very deep here though, maybe 10' or less in alot of places and that doesn't seem to contribute alot to flooding, but every home with a basement has a sump pump to pump the water away from the foundations. and the fact that all water east of the appalacians drains to the coast makes the most sense.......Does DC normally flood when hurricanes or tropical storms? I guess i am trying to understand, if 6+ inches of rain in one day floods like this or is this really because the entire east 1/3rd of the country is getting above avg rainfall?

Just go look on the news and newspapers of current flooding and fears in PA.

The dirt is clay. When hard, water just runs right off. When wet, its a soggy mess.
