I just found last night that Bob Mould (formerly of Husker Du and Sugar) performs monthly at the 9:30 Club. (I even managed to talk to him about my admiration for his music and of the Pixies!) He's teamed up with DJ Rich Morrel to produce a very interesting eclectic mix of electronic music. Mould has also been known to dig out his acoustic guitar and perform some of his hits.

He moved from Velvet Lounge to 9:30? Is he still doing everything off his powerbook?
I went to see him at VL a year or two ago, it was a lot of fun! I will have to check him out again. I got to meet him too - what a nice guy! He is one of the few people I consider to be a musical genius.

I keep telling myself I am going to go to one of those shows, but I think I'm too old for that crowd (not to mention not good looing enough... lol)

Yeah, Bob has been a long time favorite of mine. Candy Apple Grey and Zen Arcade are two faves from my mid-teens, everything Sugar ever recorded was brilliant, and his solo work is beyond reproach. I daresay I own probably everything the guy's ever recorded.
Anyway, Bob does "Blowoff" biweekly with Morel, as far as I know. I've caught him twice--once solo in Annapolis, once with full band at 9:30--over the past year. Even saw him at the Interpol show in the balcony opposite of us.

Dude.. you're right in the demographic for that group - go and you'll have fun! Even Mr. Mould fits into the bear demographic! Originally Posted by Greatbear

I loved Husker Du, but have never been able to catch any of Bob Mould's Sugar or solo shows. Not a big electronic music fan though. Sounds like someone left the drum machine on and it never gets to the chorus.
I'm a big music fan (and I play the geetar, too). Kicking myself for missing Tom Verlaine's show this week at the 9:30 Club.
Who else is into music here? What are your desert island discs?

I'm a huge music geek--go to at least one show a month, sometimes many, many more. I can't do the desert island disc thing again. Always feel like I'm leaving too much out.
