FrankenMini still around?
FrankenMini still around?
Back in the dawn of time when I lived in Alexandria, we used to autocross at the parking lot of the Hoffman building. Not long before I left there a group of loons showed up with the absolute ur-Frankenmini. It was a tube-framed car with no body and a 1275 Cooper S engine, tranny, and front suspension mounted at the rear of the car and ran on slicks. It was ugly beyond belief and ran like stink. As I recall, they were required to compete in some insane class like A-Mod, which was IIRC for things like Lotus 7s with Mazda rotary engines and such.
That was probably twenty or twenty five years ago, but I was wondering if anybody in the area ever saw it or has any idea whatever happened to it.

You're right, it's not the same car, but it's very cool. The car I'm talking about wasn't called FrankenMini, it just was a FrankenMini. Rear wheel drive, rear/mid engine, tube frame, even more minimal than an Ariel Atom.
