DC Metro MINIs - Update on Board of Directors
DC Metro MINIs - Update on Board of Directors
Greetings and salutations all.
I wanted to bring the Club up to speed on the outcome of Board meeting held on January 15.
The biggest piece of business at this meeting was to fill the vacant Board positions. I'd like to thank those that volunteered to fill positions and am pleased to annouce the Board will look like this until our annual meeting in March.
President - Jen O
Vice President - Tom C
Treasurer - Marina
Secretary - Janelle
Board Member - Paul!
Board Member - Sam
Board Member - Dave C
This Board will serve until the March annual meeting. At that time, elections will be held for four (4) positions whose terms end. Continuing on the Board for the second year of a two year term will be myself, Marina and I hope Janelle, who would like to continue to serve, but may have to step down for personal reasons.
We are already close to setting a date for the annual business meeting and hope to post that information by the first week of February.
I would like to take this time to thank John DaCrema - who has been an important part of DCMM from the very beginning and made a tough decision to step down for personal reasons.
I would also like to thank Katie for her work getting us off on the right foot this year and her help in setting the Dragon Committee into process.
Other topics which were a focus at the meeting included:
* Increasing membership and retaining members
* Rewriting of the club ByLaws. Tom and Sam will be heading this up. Stay tuned for news from them.
* Applying for 501 c (7) IRS status. Marina is working on this, as she LOVES the IRS.
* Dragon 2006. The committee is doing such a great job. I am immensely proud already!
* Upgrading the web site. Bruce, Will and Kurt will be working on this together. Stay tuned for news from them.
Please make a mental note right now that you will be attending the annual business meeting in March. It will be very important for us to have a good representation of the members. The meeting will be about an hour of just business and then our usual social and eating time. (Cause aside from the driving, talking and eating is what we do best!)

Thanks for the update, Jen. I've been very concerned about the club...I still feel guilty about leaving, but it seems that everyone's coping well.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record or repeating what's already been said, I very strongly encourage all DCMM members to take an active role in the club. Even if it's organising a single event, or assisting a committee member, your help is much needed and will be much appreciated.
Any club is only as good as it's members level of involvement. So far, I think everyone has done an excellent job, and I think most would agree.
Thanks all, for past, present and future efforts.
