My nephew's gonna be on TV
My nephew, who's become a chef of some local reknown in NYC, is gonna be on Iron Chef America this Sunday at 9PM EST. His name is Wylie Dufresne and He's up against Mario Batali...I already know the outcome as this was filmed last summer, but I won't spoil it for any potential watchers.
Wylie's restaurant is called WD 50, and it's on Clinton St. in lower Manhattan. His tutelage under Jean-Georges VonRichteren (sp?) began many years ago after Wylie graduated from the French Culinary Institute in NYC. Many long hours of very hard work ensued and the upshot was the opening his own restaurant a year and a half ago.
We're all very proud of Wylie, particularly his mom (my sister) and his grandmother (my mom). He's gotten alot of print press exposure as well...he wrote a daily column for the NYTimes for a whole month last year, and he was just in the Sunday NY Times 3 weeks ago.
Anyhoo, I won't blather on...just tune into the Food Network this Sunday at 9PM. Wylie's the cute one with the lambchop sideburns. Enjoy!
