Yellows, pinks, & blacks?

EDIT:

Hi, me again. Since this is my first Breakfast Meeting, I have to ask...what do we do there? Do I need to bring anything? Thanks.

Hello all,

I intend on being there and would love to caravan on some twisties to sterling w/ strega and wagonbat and anyone else in or around the Bowie/Annapolis area.

I may also have a friend with me or joining us all at sterling. She is looking to buy her first Mini and is in search for a Cooper S Pepper White/White for Less than $20k. So if anyone knows anybody with a previously motored Cooper Let me know.

Gratz on your 5th post, Paul!

I'll prod around to see if I can't find a Bowie to Ferry to Sterling route.

Parking at MOS can frequently be a pain. Any chance they will provide an area for us, besides the dirt holding pen they use for new cars?

I didn't want to post anywhere else, since i'll be there this weekend...

But this morning my shifting was weird... like the clutch didn't want to grab from first to second for 4 take offs in a row. I don't know if i was having a bad morning (since i'd already had a few take offs before that this morning), but i'll try and see if i'm better at lunch. If i still have a problem (which i can't figure out if it's me or the car) can someone drive my car and see how it drives compared to one that's less "used?" :P

I'm scared i'm going to need a clutch replacement, but i'm hoping it's all in my head and i just wasn't shifting right this morning. I've driven over 50,000 miles in a manual vehicle, and my last car had a stage 2 clutch, so i shouldn't be having issues driving a MINI with a super plush transmission, right? :P

We'll all be glad to help.

You can also try mine to compare if you like. 14K miles. I believe any 'techs' they have there on Sat are just oil change guys...

Hopefully it's nothing!

I have to go in for service soon anyhow... but i'm trying to make sure i know what's wrong, since they like to pull the "can't find anything wrong" card with me alot, and i get to explain to them what's wrong and "OH, YEH! Now i see the problem!" Wouldn't be because i'm a little girl, would it?
I have 38k miles on my 04, and the miles are adding up fast. And i'm assuming if there IS a clutch issue, it won't be covered since i'm out of the 36k free maintenance thing?

It should be covered... parts failing on the car is a warranty issue, not maintenance.

Couldn't they just say it was premature wear on MY part and make me pay for it, though?

Possibly, but they would have to PROVE it was your fault somehow. If they give you crap like that, bring it up here to one of the other dealerships.

If they give you crap about it, save up for an aftermarket clutch, and get someone knowledgable here to help you install it.

So what exactly is this breakfast???

Is it kind of like a mini car show. No pun intended. Or just a hang out for members of the club. I don't have a MINI yet but plan on it really soon. I spend just about everyother day driving past the dealer on the way home from work. Just to see new colors and what they have. I have been on 3 test drives and really would like to get a 06 JCW before the 07s come out. Just need to sell my house first before I make any life changes.

Maybe i'll see ya on Sat.

Later

Come on over!!

It's a gathering of MINIacs for food and conversation. Many potential members have come to the breakfasts to check out the club, and most end up joining. You don't have to own a MINI yet, just have an appreciation for the car! It's a good opportunity for you to ask questions and get answers from people who already drive MINIs.

Hope to see you there!!

Will there be any discussion and/or info about Mini's on The Dragon on Saturday?? Just wondering when we should start booking hotels etc. I meant to come to the meeting held a few weeks but something came up.

I am sure there will be talk about the Dragon, but the event is not intended to give information out about specific plans for this year. You can check out the Dragon threads here on NAM. Many many many people have already booked hotels. The dates are fixed, the first full weekend in May.

BOWIE TO WHITE'S FERRY TO STERLING RUN:

The Bowie to Poolesville Run 1 hour 20 mins.
Poolesville to Sterling Run says ~ 45 minutes, via Ferry, but likely does not include ferry delay.

Meet at Dunkin Donuts behind Bowie town center (A - Evergreen pkwy one. Click the link, click on A, and it will let your print directions from where-ever to that DD), at 7am. Get coffee, eat food, be merry, & prepare to motor.

I'd like to depart DD @ 7:30am, for ~ 9am arrival to the Ferry. Will be 'fashionably late' with a fresh coat of dust on our boots, hot coffee, and smiling faces for the Sterling Breakfast. Estimated arrival time ~ 9:45-10am.

Don't forget your radios!
